I have both these scopes. Each of them have been very reliable. The glass is a bit better on the ATACR. The locking turret on the 4-16x42 is nice going in and out of a scabbard or case. 20x is an advantage at the range but I haven’t found that it was needed in the field. (Neither is the 2.5x)...
Since it’s a short barrel, I’d go with the 168 VLD and get as much velocity as possible. I’ve also heard about the issues with terminal performance on the 195 EOL. I’m using factor 180 ELD-M from a 20” but if I was having a load built, I’d go 168 -180 VLD.

I think it is - “6 of one, half a dozen of the other” kind of thing. There will be shots where the Accubond creates a bigger blood trail and times it will not.
30 yards and crashing is solid performance for whitetail. If there is an issue regarding dense cover or another reason to anchor a deer...
The tenmile 3-18x50 SFP was on sale for under $1K which is what I think the poster was talking about.

I agree with this… 3-9x40 accupoint is clear, bright, simple, and reliable. Eurooptic has really good prices on them.
I’ve had good luck with Swaro, but others haven’t.
NF has a really good reputation. I have the NX8 and ATACR that are really great.

If I’m not flying, the yes to a second rifle since weight and space is usually not an issue when driving.
If I’m flying, I usually can trust my hunting partner’s rifle if mine has a problem… and vice versa.

As long as you stay within the expansion window… say down to 1800 fps (as stated earlier), the bullet will mushroom and perform as intended.
