He’s right. An R93 with the “off-road” stock would be a dream backpacking rifle. Only thing you give up to the R8 is that R93 doesn’t have the removable fire-control/magazine. The R93 is trim and light and shoots incredibly well… just pricey.

I have one with a 26” barrel. I like it. I wouldn’t pick one for ease of tuning. I don’t know there is such a thing.
I’ve used mine with 143 Hammers and 180 VLDs. It’s just another 7mm magnum in a short action.

This is an excellent recommendation. Too often we think more like shooters and less like hunters. I’m guilty of this. That said, I have a VX6HD, but would hesitate to let it ride in a horse scabbard on a western big game hunt and then trust it to make a shot over 400 yards. This does not apply...
I think the Leupold Mark 4HD would check a lot of boxes and looks like a great scope… on paper. For me, the biggest difference in the NF and Leupold (across all models) is the durability (ability to hold and return to zero).
For a rifle that hunts from a stand or blind all its life and is not...
There is no perfect pack for everyone. All the reputable companies make good packs. I have a SG, MR, Kuiu, and Badlands. They are all good. They are all a little different. I’ve heard great things about the Exo.
MR has 40% off last years Metcalf. That’s a good pack. (I have one in the...
I’ve had bad experiences with Christensen. I want to like them so badly. They look good and feel good. But I’d rather have a sum-moa $500 Ruger American than a 2.5-moa Christensen (even if it was free).
I’ve heard good things about the Proof and I haven’t heard an account where the my didn’t...
Need more specifics on the rifle. Year? CRF? Factory chambering or custom barrel? Synthetic or wood? Blued or stainless?
Controlled round feed and three-position safety are good on a M70; 54 degree booth throw is nice in the Weatherby (assuming Mark V).
