    I have high end ultra light sleeping gear for backpacking. If I'm truck camping all of that would stay behind and any weight concerns would go out the window. Cost and comfort would be my biggest priorities.

    Wool socks are the only socks I have. I don't own any synthetic or cotton socks. Started with smartwool, but within 2 years they were all threadbare or had holes in them. Switched to Darn Tough, only have had them one year, but they are holding up better than the smartwools after a year of use.

    I put almost 1000 miles hiking on my first pair. They are great boots IF they fit your feet. If they leak talk to Salomon or Gore and get them replaced.

    Gore-tex won't warranty the DWR coating because that is a wear item and it's up to you to re-apply it. If the Gore-tex membrane is leaking it will be warrantied.

    Best boot I've worn to date. 1000ish miles of hiking on them and no problems with waterproofing. Just ordered another pair due to the sales.
