Not the only place to hunt desert sheep over 10,000'. I have a desert bighorn tag in NV and just talked with the bio yesterday. He said there is a band of sheep that live on the highest peak in the unit and that is over 11,000'. Now most of the sheep are much lower, but they do live high in...
Orick and the surrounding Redwood National Park. Check out the Davidson Ranch by the turn off to Fern Canyon/Gold Bluffs. Or the entrance to Praire Creek. Usually plenty of elk hanging out in those places. Can even find them right on the beach at Gold Bluff. No hunting allowed since they...
Did a drop camp for a 2nd rifle limited unit in CO. Original plan was for packer to drop us off with our own gear. Had a place picked out between two drainages that I wanted to be and they agreed they could get us there.
Well, he ended up not having any guided clients in the unit for 2nd...
Great advice. I pulled my first sheep tag this year, DBH in NV. I have had a blast already just doing the research, talking with people, getting access lined up etc. And I haven't even set my eyes on a sheep yet. So many people willing to take time and give some advice, share their...
Hey guys. Well, lightning struck and I pulled a desert bighorn ram tag in NV. First sheep hunt and I'm super pumped. Really looking forward to spending some time this summer looking at sheep. It's only a couple hours from home so I should be able to get out and scout a bunch. Anyway, a...
This guy is a real piece of work as most on here can see.
Not only is he a previously convicted poacher, but he is a giant hypocrite as well. He claims the need for free speech, but as soon as I responded to a comment on his IG about him being previously convicted in UT for poaching, he not...
Are you sure it is 6B? That is the Valles Caldera National Preserve. I was unaware that there are any landowner tags in that unit. Are you sure he isn't pulling your leg??
My brother got a CC hit yesterday. Looking like I'll be down in AZ in Dec. helping him out. Same unit my dad had last year. Looking forward to it even though I didn't pull a tag.
And he had the same point total that was shown as 100% draw odds last year. So not all units/hunts have a ton of...
If you are considering stepping down from the 180 gr, you should consider the 165 gr ttsx. I have been shooting then exclusively out of my 300WM for almost 10 years. Killed a bunch of elk and a few deer from 75yds out to 550yds. I have had great success with them. I would hesitate to drop...
Was supposed to be in NZ finishing up a Red Stag hunt right now. But with NZ not opening borders until next month we have pushed it back to next April. Have the hunt booked with Exclusive Adventures. Shaun Allison has been great to work with so far but haven't actually met or seen the...
Are you going to bring along two young kids on the hunt? Or just that you have two young kids and don't want to get eaten by a grizzly?
If it's your first hunt and you're thinking of having two young kids along, then that may not be the greatest idea.
But if you're hunting solo, go for it...
Lots of great suggestions on here! All of the hunting related ones are well covered. A couple of the non hunting ones I like:
