The sitka WS is very good. I love mine and its my go-to for anything cold and lots of sitting. I have not had the FL, I hear that its warm, but less durable & resistant to weather. I have had the sitka WS in driving sleet turning to snow last year for hours where I had to get up and shake...
I am in the camp of add a 280AI or 7 rem mag and shoot 162-175's, or go up to the 300wsm and shoot 180's.
If building a custom and if you reload a 7SAUM/WSM would be another good choice in the 7's.
Like the other said, I would add a real cold weather puffy like the Sitka WS kelvin it the FL chamberlain. Then I would add a hard rain shell more for wind...that time of year I also find myself wearing my rain shell and base layer to hike in at times just to cut the wind, especially in NW...
You’ll end up with a couple someday. I started with the ultra 7, then I wanted shorter so I got the ultra 5, then I wanted quieter at times like when I have my son with me and want to make sure I have zero chance of harming his ears, I got the ultra 9 for that. I hunt with them all at times. So...
I have a 5, 7, and the 9. For a pure hunting can just to save your ears, the 5” is the way to go. Don’t expect quiet, it’s not, but it’s also dampens the sound and crack enough that a shot or two in the open seems totally fine on my ears, but not at a range...plug your ears or wear muffs at the...
103g factory Hornady shooting right at 3000 FPS for me, with plenty of factory ammo (although what used to be $19-$20/box is now $30+) is exactly why I built one.
Recoil is awesome on an 8lb rifle, shoot it suppressed and it’s really sweet.
Kelvin active; weighs similar or less to the thicker mid weight peices, zips on and off vs pullover, warmer, compresses to nothing, and dried faster. That piece is something that I don’t think anyone else has come close to an equal offering that I’ve found.
Bought it and never even cut the tags off or wore it. Brand new, been hanging in my gear room.
$225 shipped TYD, PayPal F&F or bump it up to cover the fee.
Tried the rick young route and decided it wasn't for me. Hopefully someone else wants to give it a try for cheap. Bought everything new a month or 2 ago, never ended up even taking it out in the field.

Hoping someone can help educate me a little on the bond markets? Is it time to move over into some bond funds now that the yields are rising? I have 4-5 different bond funds in my 401k plan, but I know zero about the bond markets and need to do some more digging on if I am even remotely on the...
The Bose sleep ones will stay in your ears 1,000x better than air pods, I can assure you of that. I have both and for sleep the Bose ones were built for that. I use them traveling in hotels where people slam doors and all that. Works well
The benefit to leaving the bone in is it give the (especially the bigger rear quarters) some structure to allow more circulation around the meat versus collapsing and sinking into the game bags and having to rotate it around to get air.
For your stated 1-3mile packout I am assuming thats...
Sounds good. I use a shop vac on my smoker as well to clean out the ashes and such, so familiar with that. Makes sense.
I know Traeger is the popular one, but if a man was on basically no budget, what’s sort of the gold standard that if I bought one I wouldn’t regret it 7-8 years down the road...
