I own a CZ Rimfire and have shouldered a CZ Drake. The Drake fit me extremely well and I more than likely will buy one when the time comes.
I love my CZ Rimfire rifle. Fit, Finish and Quality have all been there. I imagine the shotguns to be the same way.
Here’s a link to my first successful filmed hunt.
This Hunt means a lot to me because it’s on Family land we purchased in 2020 and I’ve been working hard on the last 3 years to become my own “Back 40” little slice of Heaven.
Unfortunately one of the Files was corrupted, so I filmed in some...

One buck ran 10 yards and dropped. The other buck ran 49 yards and dropped.
That’s a piece of lung from the second buck. Blew out on the exit.
Blood trail on the buck that ran 49 yards you could...

CVA Scout 6.5 Creedmoor 20” barrel
7.10# as it lies now with 8 rounds (1 chamber, 2 on side and 5 in pouch with a skinning knife)
The rifle will be chopped down to 16.5” and a suppressor added. This rifle has become my favorite hunting rifle, without a doubt. I do not see myself going back to...
I’m glad you enjoyed my posts.
My goal is to hopefully Encourage & Educate others that may think this isn’t a reality for them. I’ve chased and killed bigger bucks elsewhere, but doing so on land that you own and managed for hunting is a completely different feeling all together.
I wish you...
CVA Scout in 6.5CM has my approval.
Break Action rifles are so compact, even the 20” barrel is small as my 10.5” SBR AR
CVA also makes .300 BLK with a threaded 16.5” from the factory.
Beyond thankful for the opportunity at another mature buck on the family Farm.
I averaged seeing a mature buck every other hunt for the 2023-2024 season.
Since we bought the farm in 2020, 3 mature bucks have come off of it. Many more seen. Some missed…
6.5 Creedmoor - CVA Scout 20”
140 Nosler BT
Lapua SRP
Viht N555
Shot 24 yards broadside- Ran 49 yards.
Blood trail was impressive and easy to follow. Pieces of lung fell out during his death run.
All shot with 6.5 Creedmoor’s ; 140 BT’s or 143 ELDM’s
Average shot distance: 40 yards
Average distance traveled after the shot: 36.33 yards*** NOT 109 yards. I cannot multitask
Does don’t seem to travel as far as rutted out bucks.
CVA Scout claims another
24 yards broadside shot
49 yards from shot site to recovery - double lung hit
Blood trail was significant- no bending over required. Found a piece of lung in the briars.

For bowhunting I prefer lock ons
For rifle hunting I believe saddles are “better” for longer 100+ yard shots- you can c-clamp off the tree or use your tether.
Both have their place. If only 1 I choose the loc on.
My .02
We bought a tract of land, approximately 50-70 acres somewhere in Georgia, back in 2020. The goal was wildlife and recreation.
We hired a Biologist, formed a Co-Op with neighbors, planted food plots, conducted prescribed burns, controlled invasives, did some TSI work, killed a bunch of Does...
I’m partial to the inertia driven Benelli & Franchi guns.
Go shoulder a couple or see if you can try some out at a local range. It’s merely personal preference at that point. Both platforms, Benelli & Beretta are very proven with long track records.
I built out my CVA Scout with DNZ rings, SWFA 3-9 scope, paint job, stock pack, sling and SA Customs 2 round holder for less that $900.
Granted the SWFA was second-hand off the Classifieds, but still feasible.
Unless you really want an ultra-lightweight bolt rifle, I don’t see how the Howa SL...
I think you need to step back and realize you’re comparing a ~$325 rifle to a $1,300 rifle (Howa Superlite).
Aside from chopping the barrel down to 16”, I wouldn’t invest much more into these guns. Their niche is a compact, affordable, accurate and relatively lightweight rifle. I don’t...
I have not but will look into it.
Don’t think it would help much though. Between sweat in my eyes, the gnats & mosquitoes its hard to get a really precise trigger squeeze and follow through shot. That probably did more damage to my groups than the hot barrel.
