    Canada Caribou Hunt

That would double my drive. Lol. Our current drive is 19 hours + border crossing. Planning to drive it in 2 days.

    Canada Caribou Hunt

Yes and no. Both of those would probably need a commercial airline flight, right? Was hoping to drive there from the midwest. This Manitoba spot is 19 hrs for us and gets us to the tarmac for the puddle jumper/cub. Then when we come home. We can put quarters in coolers and drive home and not...

    Canada Caribou Hunt

So, basically like the outfitter said, "based on the migration"? Also, I noticed you mentioned archery. If you had a rifle would that have changed your outcomes? (Were planning on using rifles.)

Vortex razor compared to Swarovski line

I have both Razors and NL Pure, both in 10x42s Not even close how much better the NLs are. I have a buddy who has the 10x50 UHDs And we were in Montana elk hunting and I glassed up two muleys on distant peak. I was running my NLs and my buddy his UHDs. I could easily tell it was a doe and...

    Canada Caribou Hunt

Me and my group are looking at a caribou hunt in 2025 and are seriously considering Canada with a guide. Looking at Manitoba, but willing to go elsewhere. My dad's getting up there in age and mobility is an issue and we figure guided hunt with a bed and meals after each day would be better...

    Carrying turkey decoys

🤣🤣 That's awesome. I'll ask my brother for the same thing! I just picked up a combo set of Primos Photoform decoys. Strutting Tom, two Jake's and a hen. I wanted as compact/light and as "real" as possible. I would have loved some Dave Smiths or Avians, but they're just too big, bulky and heavy.

    Quickest hunt

Another: My first year gun deer hunting, 13 yrs old, my 16 yr old brother walked me to my stand at first light to make sure I got situated. It was a field stand overlooking a cut corn field. I climbed up, sat down & gave my brother the "thumbs up" and he walked back towards the entrance of...

.410 Turkey Load - Older Gun

I just bought some bismuth loads from these guys: https://www.rstshells.com/410-gauge.aspx Bismuth should work fine in your gun as it's softer than other loads. However it's #7 shot bismuth, gotta get em in close! Otherwise I'd recommend lead as the next best bet.

    Carrying turkey decoys

This is what I was hoping someone would say. Lol! I've got 3 of the old rubber decoys that are collapsible and I've killed turkeys over em for sure. But I usually hunt with my brother and dad. This year my father in law is coming and we have to split up, meaning I gotta grab a couple new...

    Carrying turkey decoys

I too was curious about this Q. I'm deciding between collapsible decoys vs the nicer ones like Avians or DSDs. The Avians & DSDs just seem so bulky. I run-n-gun & don't want to haul 1-3 full size decoys in a bag, plus if I harvest a Tom, seems like too much. Anyone have suggestions on best...

    Vortex Binos

Absolutely you can, I think if someone's looking new or used in the $1500 range, go SLCs every day & twice on Sunday. For the $1000 range, then look at: Kowa Genesis Meopa Zeiss Conquest Vortex Razor Leica Trinovud Maven (Or used Swaro for a grand) Heck, if your really patient and/or lucky...

    Vortex Binos

True, but u can find em on the used market. I hear the Kowa Genesis are also basically the SLCs. But the Helia's certainly look like the SLCs and they're Kahles which is owned by Swaro. I'm just saying for the $1500 range of binos, Swaro SLCs many consider are the best.

    Vortex Binos

Might want to check out aaoptics.com asap They got a brand new shipment of refurbished optics & UHDs were available!
  16. J

    Vortex Binos

Well the UHDs and SLCs are about thr same price. Also, keep an eye out for used optics. You can save a ton and they're fantastic binos. Keep an eye on websites like EuroOptic, AAOptics, B&H Photo, Cameraland, Adorama, Craiglist, Facebook Marketplace, and even here on RokSlide for quality prices...

    Quickest hunt

I've had several "quick hunts." Most of them are bird hunting. 1. One year we walked out to a field goose hunting and we were setting up decoys and birds were coming in even as we were standing next to the decoys. One of the guys we hunted with shot his limit (two was the limit at that time)...

    Vortex rifle scope

I chose the diamondback because it was a FFP and it fit my budget when i was switching all my scopes to FFPs. I've never had issues with my scopes, ever. I don't know what guys crap on Vortex, I find them to be fine optics at all levels. I know and have shot with several police departments...

    Vortex Binos

Surprising for sure. A few years back I was able to go to a cabela's & at 50 yds away they had ISO 12233 chart and USAF 1951 Resolution Test Charts and a platform to test binos & spotters. And that was amazing to see the clarity & colors of different optics. I was in the same boat as the OP &...

    Vortex rifle scope

I switched over every scope I have to vortex FFP in diamondbacks & they've done me well. My target rifles are 6-24s and my hunting rifles are 4-12s. My brother has a viper pst gen1 on his 300 WM and is happy with it. I'd have zero issues with a gen2 hunting. I like the FFPs for hunting cuz I...
