Bought a .308 today using the exact same process the OP posted. I need another gun like another hole in my head....just too good to pass up IMO. They were going like hot cakes today. I got a 308, bro picked up an 06, two other guys in line were picking up Tikkas too and a buddy was gonna order...

    Flat Head Flocked Silhouettes?

Just wondering if there's anyone that has reviews on Flat Head flocked Silhouette Canadian goose decoys? I've hunted with a lot of different decoys, and wondering how they stack up vs. Dive Bomb or Tangle Free fully flocked silos?

What piece of gear do you wish existed?

    😆😆😆😆

What piece of gear do you wish existed?

Yeah, for hunting on the ground for turkeys or deer. But for laying out in a cut beanfield with geese flying directly overhead, they won't do anything. If there was some way to angle a mirror of the ground upwards towards the sky, and use that as a cover, now THAT would be something.

What piece of gear do you wish existed?

A layout blind or cover or SOMETHING that matches a cut beanfield and not stick out like a sore thumb for waterfowl season. Or just some kind of mirror that can be used to match exactly your surroundings for layout blinds that can be seen from above. C'mon, Harry Potter can have an...

1 rifle/cartridge for everything incl coyotes

Love the 06 for a "do-all" rifle. It's perfect and has been going strong for over 100 yrs, it's proven and effective and it'd be mu choice if I only had 1 rifle also. I laced a gopher a few yrs back at 350 yds when I was sighting in my 30-06. Bang. Flop. I wouldn't have an issue shooting yotes...

First Hunt to Take with 5 Year Old?

I've been in the same boat the last several yrs and what I've learned is shorter trips and times is best. They struggle to get up early and being in education I can tell you that their attention span is the same as their age. So a 5 yr old only has 5 min before they gotta be doing something...

    Bullet recommendations for 30-06 Elk

Fantastic bullet, the Bear Claw/TBT/TLR/Terminal Ascent bullet design is by far the best design for a bullet for N. American game. All are similar designs. And excellent groups.

    Bullet recommendations for 30-06 Elk

Same bullet design as the Trophy Bonded Tip, new right before COVID, and there's a lot of it out there. I'm taking an 06 in 3 weeks to WY as a backup and it shoots TBTs and TAs very well.

    Bullet recommendations for 30-06 Elk

Of those listed.....whichever one groups the best I'd also toss in there the Nosler Accubond (180 gr) and Federal Terminals Ascent (175 gr) Then whichever groups the best.

How Big of a Pack for Daypack and Meat Hauling? Any Suggestions?

Following. I got a Slumberjack 2.0 that's (IMO) huge and I'd love a day pack that won't break the bank that can haul elk quarters.

    Inexpensive 223 for varmints?

Looking for a heavy bull barrel option close to the $500 mark. I think the Savage and the Rem 700 seem to be some of the more affordable options. (Which I don't mind because I have several Savages in sporter and heavy barrel options. Same with my 700s)

    Inexpensive 223 for varmints?

Totally not opposed to another Savage. I have several, love my 22-250 that's what I used last time. I'm not a huge fan of their new stock and kind of like the old, cheap one, the new one feels too blocky for me. Not opposed to it. Maybe I can find a decent used one. Didn't know if there was...

    Inexpensive 223 for varmints?

Looking for an inexpensive .223 for Prarie Dogs & yotes in a Heavy Barrel configuration. Was hoping for something in the $500 range, but that may not be feasible, unless I get lucky & find something used. Seems like the Remington 700 & Savage 10/110 are the least expensive? I have a 22-250...

    Waterfowl loads for a 20 gauge SX4

20ga #2 steel will work for Geese. I like Hevi-Bismuth #2s specifically for geese. Just a littler more punch being bismuth. Anything #2 to #5s for ducks. Often times I just shoot #2s the entire season, that way if I'm duck hunting and a bonus goose pops in, I'm good to go. I have zero issues...

    Portable shooting bench

Just out of curiosity, what kind of effrctive range are you getting with that 17HMR? A friend and I went to S. Dakota this past summer and had a blast for my first time p dog hunting. Unbelievable how much fun that was. But the two and a half cases of 22-250 Hornady V-Max was pretty expensive...

    Vortex Fury 5000

I've had excellent luck with AAOptics.com https://aaoptics.com/Fury-HD_c_142.html $875 They're refurbished, but every scope or bino I've ever got from them has been basically brand new. Zero issues. I have a buddy who just purchased a pair of Fury's 2 months ago from them, they are basically...

    Budget Cooler Recommendations

About 7 yrs ago, Costco had 150 qt Igloos for like $75-100. My dad, I & bro each bought two. I also have a Grizzly 120qt. No issues. Took em to WY 2x for antelope, MT for elk & New Brunswick for bear. Each time, they did great. WY antelope loaded em up with meat & heads & everything stayed...
