Yes, I think we are likely on the same page or at least part way. And...I missed the analogy, sorry. No argument here that we could design things to last longer, but we often don't for various reasons, typically cost. There has to be a balance between available funding to complete projects...
So we don't have any aging infrastructure? No bridges that are well past an age that anyone ever anticipated? Maybe in your region, but a wood structure built on wood piling in the 1940s in Montana has exceeded it's life, plain and simple. And no joke we design to anticipated use and...
Anyone that's worked on a car has raised hell about the dumbass engineer that came up with something or another. I know I have. Usually my knuckles are bleeding. Try to replace a belt on a 2003 Saturn Ion (my daughter's car), you'll know the true meaning of "dumbass engineer". :)
I'm in the...
I think it's my job as an engineer to get off my butt and understand how things are constructed so I can assist in improving specifications, detailed drawings, special provisions, plans, etc. I've always had more interest in the construction part of a project than the design part, but have been...
Mechanical and Electrical engineers are the only discipline that are allowed to take that class and occasionally a structural engineer. Architects, on the other hand, take classes on how to plan crazy stuff and leave it up to the engineer how to make it work. :)
You're correct, but they are owned by the company owners in most cases. There's a hell of a lot of each of those fields that are still working pay check to paycheck for the guys that own those boats, same as a hell of a lot of engineers. I don't own one of those boats or cars or houses, but...
I'll add this.......I've served on multiple interview panels, lead some, and been interviewed multiple times and not once has where I got my engineering degree came up. Maybe it does early on or with some places. Once you have that PE or some years in, I've not seen anyone do anything more...
CE here with my PE. I finished up college back in 95 and we didn't have any opportunity for remote or online classes so I have to think some of that would be a benefit to a completing a degree.
I completed an Associate of Science in a local school then on to two more years at a university to...
Some folks have mentioned it and maybe not been clear. I'll just say it......if you stay on the east side any, do not stay In Browning. I don't care who tells you it's okay or what the photos look like, Browning is no place to take a family on vacation.
If on the east side, either stay at the...
Not touristy, good breweries, hiking trails, good food........are you talking small town?
Cody Wyoming is nice but it's touristy. I don't know about trails and breweries there.
Ennis, MT is a really small town but has a few local restaurants and a small brewery. Plenty of local fishing but...
This took me a bit to assemble but I wanted to have a list for myself and thought some folks here may be interested also. The following is a list of bills that may be of interest. You can look up more info including bill language and adopted amendments here: LAWS Look Up Bill Information Page...
I'm right there with you. Every time I feel even a little bit bad about what it costs a nonresident to hunt here, l make the mistake of reading and discussing MT mule deer or elk licenses online. It's not very long and a few entitled folks push me to being all in on more limitations on...
If I were only hunting the prairies for sharps and huns here in Montana, I would probably go with a bigger running dog, at least bigger running than my griffons. However, I don't hunt them much and primarily hunt heavier cover for rooster pheasants and much of that ends up being in cold snowy...
Griffon, German Wirehair, Drat, Pudelpointer, Lab. I think any one of those depending on what works best for you and family. I have griffons now and had a German Wirehair as well. In years past I've had labs, a setter, and an English pointer. I loved them all, probably the pointer the least...
I like your idea of starting somewhere. It definitely wouldn't hurt.
What habitat improvements are we able to do in country that is a mixture of badland and sage with no agriculture to speak of? (I'm legitimately asking). I suppose there is grazing in the country I hunt, over a mixture of...
