    Exo Mountain K4?

Well, I'm in.......... I've used Kifaru, and then a Seek Outside Lanner for the last few years. Both have been good packs, but I've really liked the bag design of my buddies K3 that he has used in past years. He got a K4 this summer, and just got to pack elk quarters last week with it. It gets...

    6.5mm bullet for Elk

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

Just for interests sake, I processed this deer tonight, and that little bullet dead centered the dreaded shoulder bone on the entry side. Not the scapula, the bone section below it. Still worked great! Not that anyone is surprised......

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

I think that's what happened. I was short on time so I didn't investigate fully. They have killed well out of my 9 twist, just not always going to exit.

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

Entry Exit Some more 69 gr TMK nastiness. 30 yds, internals were soup, 30 yds death run.

    Talk to your children :(

I wish you comfort, sir. I have an 11 year old daughter, and I cannot imagine what you must be facing. For all you parents out there, you owe it to your family to read Jonathon Haidt's new book The Anxious Generation. The data rolling in on social media and kids, especially girls, is pretty...

6.5 Creedmoor/260 for Deer, Elk, and whatever else.....

My sample size is not too large yet, but I think you'll be quite satisfied with the damage they do. I have 3 or 4 whitetails taken with them in this thread, from close to mid range with a 22" 6.5 CM, and all results have been messy and definitive.

What hunting rig are you running/how do you use it

I had an 04 V8, and wrecked it in CO on some ice last year. I just replaced it with an 06 V8 Limited. They are really cool vehicles.

    Southwest

I've had good experiences with Southwest on a couple trips as well, including one where I flew home with most of the meat from an elk.

    Nissan Xterra

Thanks for the comments, gentlemen! I had a chance to drive it last night. It does have a coolant leak that they are going to take a look at, so my decision is on hold until they get that checked out. At this point I think they'd have to come down in price a fair but before I'm going to pull...

    Nissan Xterra

Thanks, guys! The SMOD issue was fixed pre 2012, I believe. He's a little high on his price, but I'll see how it drives and go from there.

    Nissan Xterra

I owned a 04 4runner for a few months last summer/fall as a hunting/camping vehicle. It spoiled me not having to take my work truck hunting! Then I hit a patch of ice in CO and wrecked it in November. Currently a local lot has a 2012 Xterra. It's an S model with 140,000. I think I'm going to go...

Are rangefinding binos really that good?

I've used a pair of Leica Geovid HD-B for 2 seasons now. I won't go back to a handheld for rifle hunting. For bow hunting I think a handheld is still the way. I really like being able to range with binos locked on a tripod. I hunted with my buddy for 8 days in CO last fall (scouting and...

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

There's a couple examples with that bullet in this thread. I shot 1 doe with them. Broadside, in the lungs. The deer died quick. I would not expect a lot of exits. I would not consider it to be in the same league as the TMK/ELD bullets.

Building a house for penny pinchers.

My line has always been that a good GC earns every penny he charges, and he can charge quite a bit before this isn't true anymore. Building systems are continually getting more complex. What you get with a good GC is good subs, efficient scheduling, and quality control. Most homeowners...

Why cant people accept the fact that some people dont need a drop tested scope?

Littlebuf provided some great entertainment. He was a little blunt for the internet at that time, and would really rattle the natives today. There's some interesting parallels with the cliff tested packs, for sure.

Why cant people accept the fact that some people dont need a drop tested scope?

I remember when littlebuf mocked people's choices! Lol I feel like the whole "don't tell people their scopes may be unreliable" is a little participation trophyish. I try ( at times with limited success) to not push it too far, but if someone is asking on a forum they are occasionally going to...

    New Peax sleeping bag

That's the discouraging part. I'd like to believe someone would be rewarded for just focusing on making exceptional products, but the reality is that the general consumer is drawn to influencer and content marketing like moths to a flame.
