Used some Fiocchi Golden Pheasant 2 3/4" loads last 2 falls. They did well on wild pheasants recently. I used 5 shot. If I was hunting an area with more quail than pheasants I may go to 6 shot.
65/35 venison and pork fat for sausage at our place. I season how I like it, wrap balls of sausage in saran wrap tightly and then vacuum seal. It lasts 6 months easy that way for us.
Last 5 years all my hunting/killing has been with a 12 year old Mathews and a 30 or so year old muzzleloader. Got tired of hearing everyone gripe about long range hunting and killed a bunch of stuff under 40 yards just to prove I still had it.
If a guy has 1 or 2 really capable rifles for his...
Had my older draht snake trained. I think it made him hate them more. I try not to hunt over 50 degrees. But if either died from a snake bit, I'm pretty sure the snake will die in the process lol.
Had that a few years ago. Strong NW wind blowing with deer normally arriving from SE. I was using an ironsighted muzzleloader and wanted to be close to the normal travel pattern. I hedged back about 30 more yards farther to the NE. Mature buck basically paralleled my scent cone for about the...
Not typically lol. You would not want to stand behind the skull and hit the pressure washer. I stand to the side and try to tilt skull down. If the brains are fresh, it really isn't that nasty.

That item in link is working well. The drill and clothes hanger bent into basically a paddle bit works well when used first. This washer gets it out quite well.
Tank heaters I use are these...
That's a 58 caliber lefthand Hawken with an old GRRW barrel on it. Shoots very well with 105 grains of Swiss ffg, hornady .570 balls, .015 patch, felt wad over the powder.
I do a few of these each fall. Skinned it out, removed the brain with a new pressure hose fitting I bought, removed eyes, trimmed well and placed in 90 degree tub. After 6 days removed, and hosed off with just the hose and garden sprayer. Then soaked in warm dawn water, replacing water 3 times...
I stumbled on what appears to be a common solution for staining antlers and sheds. I am always looking for ways to improve on skull cleaning and antler care. Had a velvet mule deer come in and the velvet was coming loose, pretty much falling off. So I cleaned the skulled and talked to the owner...
We use 6.5 creedmoor and 6.5x47 for most of those type duties. If I had those bases covered, I'd either go 7mm PRC in a Seekins rifle or would upgrade scopes on my current rigs if needed for better dialing reliability.
That's the way to do it. I am about 2 years out from doing a good quality hunt here with a 58 Hawken that is using a GRRW barrel. Well done and beautiful rifle.
Mayo Clinics list of lead poisoning sources does not list consuming lead from wild game harvests. It lists time spent at poorly ventilated shooting ranges as one cause. Other than that, its all environmental issues with no relation to shooting or hunting. Paint dust and water issues.

A guy can see 8 on this easy I think, but was wondering if there weren't some bunched up on the base. In this area the older ones typically broom the tips back further than this one is so 8 may be the correct 8.
