This is absolutely true. SG has the best load shelf and it ain't close. However Exo straps and sandwich actually is better as it keeps the total load closer to your back. This is only because the bottom of the exo bag stays attached. Any brand like SG that detaches the bag at bottom to allow...
Hey Dave it’s says right on the Kifaru website no meat shelf for the 4300. I to have an exo, SG and kifaru in the garage. And to be clear Kifaru’s shelf attacked at the bottom of the duplex lite frame which makes no sense.
man, this bag is tempting especially if they come out with a bigger bag. Aron in the video said he used same bag just bigger. I think the ARK frame will be amazing. I do like simple spartan style bags, but I also have fallen in love with my access in the Exo bags. I had the gnargali and liked...
I agree, however due to no zipper access they probably didn't see a big difference in testing. This is a smaller bag 4300cu.in; in reality you won't lose compression as the bag will typically already be full. I could see this being a problem in bags 6000cu.in and above.
Definitely like the looks of the new bag and lid. Clean look. Looks like no main zipper entrance or any side pockets. I like the sail cloth fabric. I have no experience but, in my research, looks like it's very strong, light and waterproof.
Not coming to his defense, but I think his point was its a zipper for gods sacks he's not concerned where it comes from. As long as its quality and works. In general, he's right, I mean do we know where every component of anything we use comes from? It could come from slave labor we just don't...
Agree. I look at it this way, for me one is not better than the other for this reason: Both are very transparent about what they are. For that reason, I don't look down on Exo for being 99%. It's the other brands that claim USA but won't come forward and go piece by piece on what makes their...
What I like is exo doesn’t limit “made in US” If they feel they can get a better product else where. I want the best and that doesn’t always mean made in USA. Tents is the easy example. Japan had the market on technical fabrics.
Like I said listen to pod will make more sense. Steve Speck was clear he never said entire pack was berry compliant. He listed every single component that makes up the pack and said that specific piece is berry complaint. There were only the 2 pieces I mentioned above that he said were not...
Exo released a podcast this morning addressing the "Made in America" Obviously they saw and heard the chatter. Go listen for yourself, but the cliff notes are Exo packs are berry compliant (sourced, made and assembled in America) with 2 exceptions. The YKK zipper coil portion is not. The slide...
Price point is a big factor. The easy answer is Festhered Friends or Western Mountaineering any models in the 15 - 20 temp range. I’ve owned both so I have first hand experience. Don’t be scared to get a 20° model in either of those two brands because when you actually look at the tested temp...
Funny you bring that up I called them before I ordered because I had a few questions between some of their bag models. It was like talking to a friend that’s extremely knowledgeable about sleeping bags and down. Phenomenal customer service. Sidenote, I asked them about treated down and they...
All this sleeping bag talk got me wanting to get a new bag. Just ordered a Feathered Friends swift 20 made in America 900 plus fill power for less then $600. Thanks for playing Peaks!!
You are correct! As I stated earlier Exo has 6 employees. Sow shop is an outside independent shop located locally to them in the Boise area. To your point, I would guess that’s the main factor in pricing. Kifaru is a much larger company with many more employees. With that said, I have been on...
the issue is exo is also 100% made in America. So exo has figured it out and also ships with 24- 48 hours. Exo does so by staying small and stream lines and only sells packs and seems to be doing it better then their competition.
