Yes, no zipper just doesn't make sense. I'll be curious if this one fends off the funk factor longer than the core lt wt. My core lt wt is 3 years old and literally it smells after half a day now. I guess that means I need a new one haha. I am going to use the sitka core merino 120 hoody this...
Yes, most box store brands temp rating is lower limit (survival). Western Mountaineering, SG Chilkoot, Feathered Friends use comfort rating for their temp ratings.
Look, several small upgrades equal a nice overall upgrade:
-The regular 6’ length now has a 64” chest circumference. Old bag was 62”
-Horizontal baffles.
- new reflective material
- redesigned foot box
- an added zip in attachment piece to make the bag bigger. Sold separately.
- down...
Nemo Coda looks interesting. Haven't used, but spec wise it looks great. Comfort rating to 23 degrees. 63" chest circumference. waterproof footbox. And has the zippered gill to vent at feet and chest.
I have the K4 and love it, but also a gear whore and am kinda interested in trying a 5000 IA pack as I do like the new bag designs. You said the IA felt like 30lbs and the exo felt comfortable as well. So, are you saying the comfort edge with 50 lbs went to IA?
Funny how I didn't see any initial ascents recommendations on this post. I've tried one on couple years ago and the belt didn't fit well at all. I've seen lately some influencers pushing IA how it hauls heavy loads the best. I just don't see much talk on rokslide from real world folks on the IA...
I have owned the M5 and now use the dewpoint. Although the dewpoint is significantly lighter I actually think it is more durable than the M5. M5 fits great and did like it but got a tear in it from a desk chair running over it. For backpack hunting the sitka dewpoint is hard to beat.
Order both and send back one u don’t like as much. The IA I sent back because the hip belt kept digging into bottom of my rib cage. They had great CS but ultimately thier solution was for me to cut down the hip belt and I was like I’m not gonna pay $750 for a pack that I need to dart cutting on...
Yup pretty much the same once he put done Aron and kifaru I was out. IA packs may be great packs but unfortunately gritty is pushing them I stop right there. There are far better qualified people out there that I will take pack advise from.
You guessed it. Spotter on one side then miscellaneous stuff on other like water bladder, rain coat, tent pole,
If I was not using a spotter I would only us them if I need extra storage. For instance if I was in an extended trip 7-8 days I may put my tent in one side zip and rain gear and...
Go 5000. I ordered both 3600 and 5000 and i am pretty ultra-light. The issue for me is any trip over 4 days just requires way to much thought to load the pack. If its late and dark and I need to move camps or hike out I do not want to be screwing around with a perfect fit to fill every little...
Its true to size. I'm a Large in most things and Large fit good. enough room to put over puffy but not to big that looks weird wearing by itself in town.
Its a great jacket. Very light and packs small but seems very durable for how thin it is. I have used it on several downhill ski trips in...
