I built on based on plans available online. I think I came across them on the 6.8 SPC Forum
This pic was before I finished it. There is now a metal bracket holding the torch.
I can anneal 223 up to 308 based cases. I would have to find a deeper pan for the longer cases, but at the moment, I...
My wife and I are geting over the virus. She got it first and had flu like symptoms and loss of taste. I have a head cold with a runny nose. Both of us had the Moderna shots early in the year. Son got the virus last year, got the vaccine, and got the virus again and was the one that passed it...
I was surprised yesterday to see primers at the local Academy Sports. They had CCI small pistol and rifle. Today they added Federal small pistol and rifle to the shelf. 4 sleeve limit per day.
Have not been able to find H895, but IMR4895 is available locally so been picking it up.
Walked up on a button buck snoozing. I thought it was dead at first and as it was deer season, started to look around for who ever might have shot him. Wish I had my camera out. As I am standing right over him, he suddenly got up. Shaked off the groggyness and wobbled off. Never paid me any...
Instant Pot those shanks whole. Pressure cook for 50 minutes, release the pressure normally. Shred the meat off the bones, add veggies and seasoning, and pressure cook another 15-20 minutes. You will start saving those shanks whole from then on. Works great on wild turkey legs and thighs also.
Bringing up an old thread. Finally got out and shot this drill. I shot 2 rounds. Orange targets were adjusting zero. Random hole on the right half were some practice shots sitting unsupported. One thing that bit me was time management. I was rushing the shots when I had more time to use,
I...
I use CCI 34 for my 6.8 as well as my son's AR-10. I have shot the AR-10 loads in my bolt action 308 and have never had an issue with ignition. Matter of fact, they seem just as accurate as BR-2 primers. I picked up an entire case of them a few months back for $80 (5000 primers).
I have a Walmart across the street that will get Blantons every once in a while for $58. Weller SR big bottle (1.75) for under $35 after tax. Just have to swing by every Wednesday to check. Krogers gets it every few months, but I don't like it enough to make the effort of driving there. Funny...
I shot a whitetail buck last weekend with a AR-15 in 6.8 spc. I hand load 110 grain Nosler Accubonds at about 2560 fps. The deer was 70-80 yards away. The bullet entered high on the shoulder. Entrence hole was small, but the shoulder blade had a 2" hole in it. Bullet traveled at an angle...
I learned when doing automotive work, wearing gloves makes cleaning hands afterwards easy. Same applies to field dressing and animal. I bring gloves when hunting. I am not too worried about catching anything, just when I take off the gloves, my hands are clean, easy peasy. Just have to clean up...
I have a Shilen prefit 308 barrel at the smith getting fitted to a Rem 700 action at the moment. This is my first rebarrel so I am looking forward to the results.
If I was in the market for a 300 mag. I would get the Tikka 300 WSM. Shot one at the range the other day. The fellow had the barrel cut down to 20", a limbsaver pad installed and a bunch of the other mods, such as the stainless bolt shroud, etc.
He let me shoot it and I was surprised that the...
I voted synthetic as that is what I mostly use. The only merino I have is in socks. My favorite shirt is the wasatch crew top. I on't like to wear a lot of clothing even in cold weather. The wasatch top, a puffy, and the hard scrabble jacket keeps me good for most situation.
Hornady Match ammo has crimped primers. RCBS makes a reamer for crimped primer pockets. I use both the large for those 308 cases and the small for 5.56 cases. Chuck it in a drill. The cutter stops cutting once the crimp is removed.
So I drank a different flavor of the kool-aid. Snagged a Walmart Clearance Rem 700 ADL 223 with scope at $190. First order of business was to get rid of that scope and replace it with a SWFA 6x. The Rem 1-12 twist is not going to let me shoot the 75 or 77 grain bullets, but for now, I can do...
I have a SHV mounted in low rings (Warne) With a 20 MOA rail on a Remington 700 with a SilencerCo Hybrid-46 and do not notice the suppressor in the scope view.
I have a SilencerCo Hybrid-46 that I mount on a Remington 78 Sportsman that had the barrel cut down to 20". I also put it in a B&C stock and installed a Timney trigger.
I also mount that suppressor on two AR-15s, one in 5.56, and one in 6.8 spc that works well for whitetail. Will probably use...
I picked up a Remington Sportsman 78 in 308 a few years back. I replaced the birch stock with a Bell and Carson Alaskan and installed a Timney trigger. I recently had the barrel cut down to 20" and threaded for a suppressor. That 308 is a real soft shooting rifle in that stock. I had my son's...
I have a 2016 F150 XLT with a 6.5 bed and the echo boost. I get close to 20 mpg on the highway. I realy haven't towed anything, but I enjoy the ride.
My son has a 2012 with the V6 echo boost and towed a 9000 lb trailer from the west coast to Texas, then to Colorado, and then across the country...
