    Any bacon fans?

Finished my bacon today! 18 days EQ cure, left has black pepper added, right is maple syrup. Smoked in my traeger on low over applewood for 4 hours. Turned out good for a first try, overdid the pepper a little bit lol. I think it would be better if I had a way to cold smoke it for a longer time...

What caused the Rokslide shift to smallest caliber and cartridges?

Yeah, I haven’t hunted for as long or killed as many animals as some guys, maybe a lot of guys. But in my humble opinion and experience, anyone who thinks their shot placement and cartridge selection means zero follow up shots on elk, maybe hasnt shot very many elk. I shot a spike elk several...

    22 ARC

Im guessing it started as B, and then turned in to A as the thread progressed.

What caused the Rokslide shift to smallest caliber and cartridges?

No, they are not the same. Lol, yes, I was being pedantic, but it was in response to @TaperPin calling a magazine a clip. Mostly because he also comes across as pedantic sometimes. No offense meant, all in good fun.

What caused the Rokslide shift to smallest caliber and cartridges?

What do you mean no? Granted, there is probably more that 14 guys on here that hunt with an m1 garand. I was just making a point that there is very few.

What caused the Rokslide shift to smallest caliber and cartridges?

There is probably about 14 people on Rokslide that hunt with rifles using “clips”. And none of them are posting about their small calibers.

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

How about classification based on the actual contents of the thread, not just the title? Have you read past the first page?

Ive shot some out of my Ruger, no problems yet 🤷🏼‍♂️ might have a problem with a higher round count tho.

What caused the Rokslide shift to smallest caliber and cartridges?

This. If the 223 thread and 6mm thread had the same pics of terminal performance, the same reports of quick kills and being able to observe the animal through the scope for the entire shot process, but did NOT specify the cartridge or bullet weight…. I wonder what most would think of the...

WTS HS PRECISION PRO HUNTER LONG RANGE 338 LAPUA

I think he’s trying to be to first person to achieve WKR status by only posting in the classifieds 🤣

What caused the Rokslide shift to smallest caliber and cartridges?

Me too! I’m getting sick of never being able to find 77 tmks!

What caused the Rokslide shift to smallest caliber and cartridges?

This point has already been addressed, but you have obviously not spent much time on rokslide if you think people here are not encouraging new guys to learn all they can! If someone quote “knows nothing about bullet placement”, and cant even place a 223 round in the front half of a deer...

What caused the Rokslide shift to smallest caliber and cartridges?

There has been multiple bear kills documented on the 223 thread, as well as elk, moose, deer, even a walrus…. Do you just need to see it happen with your own eyes? Do you actually think everyone in that thread is secretly killing stuff with a 338 win mag and claiming it was a 223? Not trying to...

Trending minimalist - not ready yet - what tweener boot for this year?

Yeah I love mine. Never bought em, but I believe Altra sells a rock guard, basically a thin piece of stiff plastic that goes under the insole. If anyone buys a pair for a transition boot and they are still a little too soft soled for you, might want to look into that. No personal experience with...

What caused the Rokslide shift to smallest caliber and cartridges?

Not a brown bear or a TMK, but Harry Caldwell shot a lot of tigers in China with a 22 Hi Power. Its been several years since I read his book, so I did a little google research to refresh my memory. He went to China in the early 1900’s as a missionary, and found out someone needed to deal with...

Boots - are we doing it wrong

Put a couple hundred miles on a pair of these running trails in Colorado when I lived there, other hikers will give you funny looks tho. Lol

Boots - are we doing it wrong

I have been wearing minimalist shoes and boots for eight years, mostly vivo and lems, one pair of altras and a couple pairs of xeros. I used to deal with constant back pain, it disappeared once I started wearing them. I also would sprain or twist my ankles fairly often when hiking, hardly ever...

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

I hear ya. Im just using em for hog hunting, and shots are usually under 100 yards anyways with the way we hunt. They work great for that.
