the 3x9 is the only one i can recall, but if i remember correct the main vertical and horizontal crosshair on the tree type reticle had lines .125 MOA thick... so 1/8th inch @100 yds... that seems pretty thin to me
shooting 166gr hammer hunters now around 3050. probably leaving 50-70fps on the table due to short magazine/powder capacity issue. only 180 class bullets i have shot were 185gr berger classic hunters. i think they were in the 2950-3000 ballpark.
500yds and in there is no shot i would take with...
I always have had an exit, but its often very small. the rear shank passes through with minimal expansion while the petals break off the jelly the insides. i often dont find the exit until skinning. Ive shot 2 bulls and 5 deer so far and been very happy
If your stove jack is low on the pipe, the wind has alot of exposed pipe to blow around. I make a simple loop of mechanics wire around the pipe with a couple small "s" hook hung on it. Pinch one side of the hook shut so it stays on the wire. Then use whatever cordage you have to guy it back
Both will easily kill out to 400 yds. And I don't think you need a fancy reticle or dials either. Zero either rifle at 250ish yds amd you could hold at the top of an elks back and kill it at 400.. more or less
I have had excellent luck with a kni-co stove in my 10x10. its overkill for my tent, but has performed awesome non the less. stacking 2x6 lumber cut-offs in there on top each other i have coals in the morning with it damped down all the way
Yes, its a Teton model. Mine has 3ft walls. If i had it to do again, i would do 4ft walls for sure. As a solo or 2 person tent if weight and packed size is an issue, i would still choose a 10x10x3.
check out the spike tent series by montana canvas or "reliable tents" out of billings MT. i have a 10 x 10 from reliable and can set it up solo in 10 minutes and can fit the entire setup on the back seat of sedan. both make a 12x12 version as well. I have a 12x14 wall tent and go for the...
my main rifle has a 22n barrel. (300wsm). but looking back at all the animals i have killed with it, they would all be just as dead if it had an 18in barrel. would i be getting "max"performance from the round? no.. but all my shots have been 485yds and less so it just dont matter...
when im...
the big white marine coolers from igloo and coleman are great. keeps ice right with my Grizzly cooler on a 7 day trip like your describing "20-30 at night, up to 50s-60s and sunny in the day
why are people recommending turrets when his max range is 300yds..... a plain jane 2-7 or 3-9 variable would be my suggestion... save your money for something else
they want you too shoot every goat your see.... but who would know? who is to say a group of three guys dont go in there and have a legit hunt and shoot only as much as they can carry out?
I keep mine fully floating with 2 compression straps top and bottom. Makes it easy to stuff extra clothes, tripod ect. between the bag and Sherman. Also makes it a nice way to carry awkward items like an elk head.
so long as the shoulder strap length and hip belt are the correct size, i would think the frame height would be inconsequential in most cases. im 6ft and us a 26 lite and 24in duplex and notice no real difference in performance. shoulder strap length and hip belt size DO make a difference though...
