As far as allowing straight wall during ml season, not sure that’s a good idea. Honestly I like the western states going to iron sights only for ml. Colorado goes a bit further and makes you use full bore, no sabots. To me that’s why there is an early ml season. It’s harder to take an...
Yes, it’s a attempt to limit how far a bullet travels, effectively range as well. By limiting to a large bullet usually 35 cal or larger BC is usually low, lots of drag. By being straight wall case capacity is limited keeping velocity down. Some states also limit oal which further limits...
I actually use two different ones. 45/70 for rifle season and 360 Buckhammer for muzzle (pistol). Have not taken a deer with the 360 yet, but did take one a few years ago with a 357 max pistol.
Casting and finish is quite common for gunmaking. 1911 and saa are all made that way. It’s the way guns have been made for 100+ years. Ruger makes a lot of guns that way too. I think all the revolvers are done that way. AR’s are almost all forged and then finished. I am sure there is a...
I like my t/c single shots better, but not sure the juice is worth the squeeze at todays prices. For an encore, frame is 600, barrel 400, furniture 200, so 1200+ vs 400-450 for a Cva. The only thing is you can’t swap barrels on the Cva, but considering the gun cost is about equal to a...
With encore frames going at 600+ it really makes you wonder why should I use an encore? You can get a complete Cva single shot for 2/3 the cost of just an encore frame.
Hopefully this will lead to cheaper encore and G2 frames being available. I would like a few more of both if they can come in at the sub $400 price point.
With ssk 50 frames available and 3 barrel mfg, the contender market is fairly well served right now. About all that can be offered in...
My take away on the whole subject is that the old tried and true big gun with a less fragmenting bullet will work and work well enough if that’s all you know. But the concept of using a smaller caliber with heavy for caliber match bullet will give equal performance on the animal, yet have less...
Trusts are slower. I am now over 13 months since purchasing one suppressor and still no approval. I also have one that’s supposedly being expedited as my dealer is trying to close and it’s been almost 2 weeks since it was expedited. No approval yet.
Funny after the fact but I am sure it wasn’t fun at the time. Guy I went to school with was party hunting in Iowa on opening day. Lots of Irish coffee and 5 or 6 guys piled in a beater 70’s sedan. While going between plots, someone touched off a 12ga in the middle of the back seat. Luckily...
I was right at 3400 with 60g of h4831 sc with a can. max load is 62g per barnes data. May try some different powders as the data suggests 3700 should be possible.
Bottom metal is mesa precision and mag is mountain tactical.
I have longer mags. Have not built up any 135 rounds yet, but I believe they will fit. Was shooting 80g and was a bit disappointed in the speed. Only 3400 fps with a mid data load. I knew it would be a little slower due to only being a 22” barrel, but was about 100 fps slower than the data...
Just took out two new Tikka builds to the range. 7 PRC and a 7.5 twist 25-06. The prc build was started before I read all the small caliber discussions. Now after using it, I have decided it’s not the right rifle. Now what to I do with it, new barrel in ? Swap the bolt for a smaller bolt...
ME here, semi retired now and so not in the job search anymore. Colorado has some manufacturing, but a lot less than it used to have. A lot of the jobs were in oil and gas for ME’s. Time off really is more of a company specific thing than degree. I had pretty limited vacation to decent based...
I think some of your experience is just the way they work. Unfortunately there is no magic filter to pick up the speech you want other than your own brain. Crowded spaces with lots of noise are the hardest thing to hear individual speech. If you listen to a recording, it’s all about the same...
