    hot tent stove question

I have a lite outdoors 18" cylinder stove with the baffle. It is the only stove I have experience with and have only run it a handful of times, but I've been able to get a couple hours of burn time pretty easily. The key I've found is to really burn a lot of small to medium wood to get a good...

    Struggle season.

I'm in northern WV. I've had the best season I've ever had as far as whitetails. Hunted here and Ohio have killed 3 of my 4 biggest bucks this season alone with my bow. That being said, just 2 years ago I had the most grueling season I've ever had. Took it down to the wire in late season and...

Tree stand guys and scent control

MY belief is that scent control is nothing more than a marketing ploy in the hunting industry. One that works, and has made some companies a lot of money. I won't go into the specifics as to why I believe that, as many of my thoughts have already been said above. I will say, I haven't done any...

    Warm tree stand boot!

The BEST method I have found for absolutely warm feet all day long is this: walk into stand with uninsulated boots and very thin socks. Once you're at your tree or blind or whatever, or if you're a mobile hunter after you have your stand set up, take your boots off, take those sweat soaked thin...

NZ Tahr fighting for its life

This is absolutely fantastic news. I have kept up to date on this throughout the entire process and did what I could to help. I was un-optimistic I will admit.. but am extremely pleased to see proper management being ordered now.

    Marmot Precip vs Kryptek Jupiter

Considering these 2 pieces of raingear as packable type rain gear. Intend to use on various trips from backpack hunts to every day fishing trips. I realize neither of these are extremely high quality rain gear, and do not intend to use these in continous rainy/wet conditions. More so for pop up...

    40 Year Mountain Caribou Dream

I have referred multiple people to this video, I tell them this is what a true "dream come true" looks like. You can see it on Randy's face and hear it in his voice. One of my favorite videos of all time.

    9MM ammo for bears defense?

Slightly off topic but what are everyone's opinion on a .38+P revolver shooting 158 grn BB hardcasts as well as spray in grizz country? Obviously not the ideal caliber or gun, but if it were this combo or no handgun (theoretically) what level of comfort would you have?

    Montana elk

perhaps I'm missing something here but if the general tag is based on a true preference point system then how are people with 1 point not drawing and people with 0 points drawing? Would not all 1 point holders get a tag before considering 0 point holders?

    Meat grinders

I have the cabelas carnivore 1/2 HP. I love it. I do about 5 deer a year with it and have had it a few years now. I recommend not cheaping out on a grinder if you plan on using it for years. Not saying good deals can't be had, but buy one that will last.

What would you NOT buy used

What types of gear would you guys not buy used? I've bought my fair share of used equipment and have been happy with every purchase. That being said, I'm gathering more and more gear for upcoming hunts and started wondering what gear others feel you should try to buy new. Just interested in...

    I’m using a Tethrd saddle

I use the tethrd saddle for whitetails. I'm an extremely mobile hunter nowadays. Started with fixed stands, went to a climber, then to mobile hang ons, now I use the saddle the most. Like above mentioned, use a platform and it will significantly increase comfort! atleast it did for me.
