I've got a magnum bolt off a Tikka T3X Lite, chambered in 270 WSM, that I'd like to trade for a standard bolt. I bought this rifle as a project gun from my local gun store for a steal, since 270 WSM is dying/nearly dead.
The same store sold it new a couple years ago, along with...
From what I know about the 7-08, it's a slower twist rate, so it doesn't handle the heavier, high-bc bullets as well, and the 30* shoulder allows for longer bullets at caliber depth seating.
And those things add up to less energy delivered down range.
Can't speak for everyone... But low recoil is a big factor for me. Improves accuracy, follow through, spotting impact, and ability to follow up. And then ballistically, it gives me 1600+ ft-lbs to 500y, which is all I need for the animals I hunt.
And then compared to a 7 SAUM, brass is super...

Couple questions for you guys...
1. If you currently own/shoot a 7 SAW, what MVs are you seeing? Can you post some photos from your chronos?
2. Which gunsmith's did you use to have your chambers cut? Just WTxOrd or others?
Big thx in advance!

Need some help with a technical question on Tikka T3x actions. I have a short magnum in 270 WSM that I got for a great price, and want to convert it to a standard short action. Can I replace the bolt body alone or do I need to switch it the entire bolt assembly? Thanks!
The entire premise of the test was flawed when he limited the shooters to range-finding a milk jug. As if hunters are only allowed to range on the vitals and not the rest of the animal. Rookie stuff.
I shoot a venom out to 1000y regularly...and it's a better scope than I am a shooter. It used to be you needed to spend $$$ to find good glass, but that stopped being true over ten years ago. Noe you can get a decent Arken or Vortex for under $500.
There's quite a few 270 bullets over 150 down here in the states. Both berger and nosler have a few hunting and target options. I think it's sticking around. Even with Remington and Hornady purposefully not supporting it and paying their YouTube influencers to talk it down, it's still gaining...
