I have no meat shelf
I had a shelf years ago. Meat inside to me is much easier to contain and handle than a shelf. Clients that have used shelves seem to work ok, it does take more goofing around to get it loaded right than just dropping it inside the bag though.
Well L n S got a new pair of boots to me the day before my hunt started. Straight into the mountians with them. After about a four day break in my feet settled in. So we csmenoff grizzly hunting sndnheaded right into the Rocky Mountains of Kodiak for goats. Lots of rain, tons of rocky...
There is no pack to big for trips like this. I use a Barney’s pack for all my long distance excursions. External frame, maybe not as popular with the trendy pack crowd but tested beyond what my body ever wants to do. Loads over 200lbs, dropped off cliffs, never tore ripped bent or broke. 20...
I went with a pack design that has remained pretty much unchanged for decades and guides in Alaska use the same pack for years and years. That’s a testimony to durability and functionality. I didn’t want a new style pack that was untested.
I didn’t want a modular pack, I wanted a simple buckle...
Lonesome Dove Outfitters
Dennis zadra. Awesome goat area, black bears right there as well. I have personally guided for him and would highly recommend him for what your looking for.
Canned goat I had was great. Anything ground was great. Anything steaked was a waste of time. I’m glad some guys are having success with that though. I never have.
So after the last hunt I was missing some heel skin and was noticing my feet were wetter than normal. After a talk with the lathrop boys, they next day air shipped me a different boot with a shipping label to send the others back! I gotta say that’s nice. Had I just bought boots from the store...
Most of the island doesn’t have spruce. A lot doesn’t even have trees. If you find a good game trail just follow it, typically around streams there’s lots of trails. Hmmmm lol. l busting brush is a bad idea down there. Unless you enjoy being sweaty frustrated and pissed off all at the same time.
I’ve seen wide flares of over 32” tip to tip on a handful of rams then. In the same valley tight narrow curls. I’ve never seen enough in the 20 years I’ve spent in the area I work to recognize a sheep from that area or not.
I said I’ve never used a fence to protect me or my meat.
I tried setting one up around some gear while I was gonna be in town once but a deer kept tearing it down and on the third try he ran off with the whole fence.
Update.
Hunt number 3 is behind me with my elites. Started to rub on the heels a little. Contacted L n S and a different size boot is on the way. These guys are Johnny on the spot. I went to try my old miendels on that I used for a decade or so while my new boots are in shipping. Couldn’t...
