I'm in the same boat. I had Camping World in Colorado Springs do some work on ours a few years ago! NEVER AGAIN. I'm currently trying to figure out how to do the work on my own. If you find a good shop please keep us posted.
It's the stock that came with it. But I had my local gun builder paint the stock, cerakote the barreled action , and thread the barrel. I put a limbsaver recoil pad on it as well. This was put together for my 12yr old daughter in 7mm-08.
Plus one here!
There are places that require 0 points, not to mention the OTC options. Apply, buy, pack and go. If your just getting started I would suggest just getting to mule deer country first! It is typically the biggest hurdle. Bank points later and hunt now.
I have had my Ram 2500 6.7 with topper for several years. I'm able to throw a cot in the bed an sleep where ever I can get my truck. Plus, I'm able to tow our camper, flat bed, or horse trailer when need be. Only negatives for me are, I wish the suspension was a bit softer on the FS roads...
Interesting. Thanks for the heads up. I have owned two. I hope they don't go down hill. I have been a fan for many years and haven't had any issues in the past. The passing of information like this is what makes this forum great.
There are a few good options out there at that price point. First, try to get your hands on a few to see what naturally fits you and feels good shouldered. For me in that price range and maybe a bit over:
Tikka T3x Lite
Browning X-Bolts
Bergara B-14
Weatherby Vanguard
Hell, even a Ruger American.
I say hold on to it and get a bolt gun. I was in the same boat. I only have one .308 left and don't hunt with it. But, it gets plenty of range time between my kids and I. I typically hunt with my 300wsm, 300wm, or 7rm.
I have 5 pairs of the older Zions. Everyday wear as well as hunting etc. for many years. I haven't had any issues with them. My only complaint is finding them in 34x36!
