Does getting to 15x or 16x magnification come at that much more of a weight penalty? I would like to see a 3x15 or 4x16 with a simple reticle, I would buy one for sure. Probably two of them
I wish I had been on about 10 more goat hunts before my own. Judging the difference between an 8.5" billy to a 9.5" billy was extremely difficult for me. Unless they were standing side by side it was hard to gage how big each billy truly was. I took lots of pictures of them and tried to compare...
Yeah he doesn't have his really long guard hair, but his undercoat is nice and thick. It was low 70s during the day. Luckily there was lots of snow still, we stopped for a couple hours on the way back to the tent and buried the meat and cape, got everything cooled off
Was an awesome hunt. Spent a total of 5 days in the mountains, looked at probably 15-20 billys. Covered some pretty looking country and saw lots of wildlife. Sheep, elk, deer, moose, couple grizzlies, and a pack of wolves. I wish everyone could hunt mountain goats at least once in their life.
No I didn't, I ended up going with the hawkins 3 round mag. I think they make one specifically for a xlr chassis, you might want to double check though
