I just got my hands on one of the new 5500's at the Idaho Sportsmans show today. I have the 2014 3500, and have been VERY happy, esp with the way it hauls heavy loads. The extra 2000 only counts the main bag and lid. One of the things i really liked about the 5500 i saw today is the HUGE side...
Has anyone seen this tent or have any opinions on it? I really like the design, and being under 2 lbs is really tempting. Are there any other trekking pole tents that are similar? I have been looking at some of the pyrimid designs out there, but i'm not sure that i am ready to go floorless...
I'm in the same boat. I recently picked up a pair of 12x50 viper hd's. I find that glassing on a tripod is sweet goodness. I routinely find myself finding more with my binos then i do with my 50mm razor. HOWEVER, most of my bino use is on the run, or a quick peak to see what looks like an...
Just bought one of these @ B&H for $199. It broke my first time out, however i have been told that its unusual. i was happy with the tripod up until failure. Regardless they are on sale right now for $169 @ B&H...
I really liked the 3 leg design. I have an exo pack and it fit perfectly. The 522 is supposed to be super light, and I only need it for sitting. We'll see how it goes.
Fyi my oben 2331 worked well until I took it hunting sat. A ring on one of the twist locks broke. First time out. Sent it back, ordered a promaster 522.
The ultimate prosumer video camera. Check the reviews, its by far the best camera out there for the money. You wont have to worry about early morning or late evening light to film. 20x optical, not digital. This is the perfect camera to capture your hunts, AND your nephews bar mitzvah...if they...

LOVE this camera, especially early in the morning, it can see better than i can.
Picked up a bow for the first time in June. Got this guy on day 3. 1st bull!! 40 yard shot. otc, public land, SOLO. All those weekends in the hills scouting paid off!
Sell the leupolds and pick up the new Vortex razor 50mm. I used mine this weekend scouting and did not miss my 80mm or its weight one bit! Sweet scope for sure but hard to find in stock! (elk101 has 10% off right now)
I used both on my scouting trip this weekend. Had to shed the jacket within an hour. The pants are the most comfortable i have ever worn, and very quiet. Kuiu gets even the small details right, down to the fly zipper that can go up or down when you're wearing a pack, and the belt is in the way...
Thanks guys.. early season Idaho high country, ill take a chance on the Guide jacket alone. However, I'll start shopping for some lightweight rain gear for later in the season.
I invested in the Kuiu Guide jacket and attack pants this year, and have been using both for my scouting. Very happy so far, but i am wondering if they will be enough in the rain? Should i be looking at rain gear as well? Anyone have experience to speak from?
thanks
