Wasn’t that the point of the whole change? Yes… it was. If I ever decide to become an outfitter again, it will definitely be in Wyoming.
The way I read the proposal it said “we’re sick of all these do it yourself guys drawing tags and using them on public land on the west side. We need to...
Generally speaking, I like to be up over top of the main ridge and a little bit down slope. On the opposite side of that ridge from where I plan to hunt.
More good feedback thanks!
Hmm… they sound like great pants for late season or ugly weather.
But early/mid October in Wyoming or Montana can be dry and even warm. The Timberline pants are in insulated. Underneath I wear a light merino base from Sitka or Black Ovis. If it gets colder I’ll add...
You didn’t draw based on your points. You were unsuccessful and then drew licenses in the random. Your odds were a little better than in the regular. But you drew!
Thanks for the feedback. Two questions about the Talus Hybrids….
I see they have a waterproof breathable membrane. I HATE rain gear and I have found that products like Gore Tex don’t breathe nearly enough for an elk hunter doing his morning elevation gains. In addition to that these have a...
I have been using Sitka Timberline pants for years. They’re beat to death, so it’s time for a replacement can anyone tell me what the comparable model of pants is from Kuiu? The Timberline pants have removable knee pads, as well as waterproof knees and seat.
I never drop my pack until it’s time to shoot. My Bog Pod sticks up out of it so I can use it for a rest without even removing it from the pack.
But the main reason is because the mountains swallow things up. You can sit something down, walk 100 yards and never see it again.
You ask, which is harder. Numbers don’t lie so obviously rifle hunting is higher success “for most people”.
As far as numbers of people. That doesn’t matter to me. Most don’t give 100% and it’s always easy to find places to call my own.
I guess I should add that my opinion is based on hunting...
If that is your opinion then sure bait it as a comment. Please. For the record I totally agree.
Let me get this straight, you want to quit supplementing elk during the winter which will mean higher mortality rates and you are doing this to avoid higher mortality rates from CWD, which so far...

Wyoming offers some of the best...
This is all you need to know.
Buying someone else points will not help you in a party application as long as you have the same number of points. If you had five points, and she had five points together, you would have a party application with a five point average. No advantage.
If you were...
That will happen at some point over a 30 year span. lol
I’m definitely not saying it’s easy. No such thing as easy elk hunting. But you got the job done. It sounds to me like a lot of guys in the same area you were, would say they never saw an elk. Sometimes it just comes down to having to do...
I think there are two ways of looking at it. I spent two grand on this tag I’m not going home empty-handed. Or….. I spent two grand on this tag I’m not shooting anything small.
It comes down to this. If you have elk hunting experience and you have a good elk hunting area and know it well and...
