I'm not sure I understood what you were asking here, so sorry if it's all sorted...but your original question asked why the sea level stuff. That is how the system is built for folks that want to use a custom turret, something I don't do personally, but some people like to dial 'to' their...
I have a stainless weatherby Accuguard. Just had it cerakoted with the elite line. Reason I did it...stainless, while rust resistant, is not rust proof. Also, some alloys of stainless are more rust resistant than others. I have been in situations where I was concerned about corrosion but...
I have had an older Anschutz, an original Kimber 82, a Kimber classic (IIRC), and now have a CZ 455. My son has a 455 as well. They all have their points, but overall, I am happiest with the 455. Mine is the heavier barreled varmint model, my son's is the American.
For the most part, almost...
I like Tikka's, have a CTR. Excellent shooter, great trigger. But if you are going to shoot a 300 win mag, as others have mentioned, they are not the best choice IMO. As mentioned, the boxes are short, and the twist, IIRC, is 1 in 11. So if you ever decide to shoot long, high BC bullets...
Pwells,
Perhaps you already know this, but Sig just introduced a new line of RF's....the BDX line. The top shelf in that series, the 2400BDDX, will offer a lite version of the AB ballistics suite internally, but the coolness is that the RF will also connect directly to a Kestrel with full AB...
I run a lot of stuff on my chest, so I like the AGC with the basement. I was concerned it would be too bulky, but after using it, I did not find it to get in the way at all, YMMV. I do like having camera, binos, RF, Kestrel (in an additional pouch), and a few survival things (firestarter etc.)...
As previously mentioned by Scott, the Leica does take a card for you to input your custom curve. When used with the card, the cap moves to 1000 yards. The reason there is a cap is that at this time, Leica ballistics operate like the new AB lite...no coriolis or aero jump etc. For this reason...
Freebird,
I have the 2700, I posted a review on here a month or so ago you can check out. Long and short, if you are talking about the 2400 ABS, that is a different animal in some sense because it includes the full suite of ABS software. So it's way more expensive, but akin to having a 2700...
Yeah, I saw the other thread, looked like it was on it's way to becoming a dumpster fire, so I decided to try and start over.
Anyway, cool stuff from sig. I can't see ever using the scope. Don't get me wrong, it is very cool, whiz bang stuff, no doubt. And some people will love it for...
Well, I can do unbiased for sure, especially since I am more of a Leica guy. Reputable, not so sure on that one, just someone that has spent some time lately with RF's and a couple of the companies that make them.
Just got back from NRA where I was able to meet with a contact at Sig and spend some time going over their newest RF/Scope offerings. He is going to send me access to their Google drive file with more details (I could not remember everything he showed and told me), so I 'll have more to post on...
Weatherbow,
Don't know if it will work for you, but I use one of the tall Harris bipods seated on the ground. Then I use my Kifaru in back to steady the rear. How I use the pack in the back depends on the ground situation (sloping, flat, rocks etc) I have available, but it is very steady. I...
tyeager is on the money. In the end, wherever you go, you are likely to have to change up your drops. A turret printed in yards makes that much harder to work out, but you could always count clicks etc.. Basically, you would be using the 'custom yardages' on the turret for the one set of...
Barrister,
Not sure where you are on the experience curve, so excuse me if what I post is obvious, or on the other hand, not clear enough.
The problem with the custom dials (I have had them) is they are set to one load, one set of conditions, and the numbers scribed on the dials represent...
Jet stream light: Tight fit, no hood, no fleece liner, no taped seams. Windproof, very lightweight.
Mountain Jacket: Looser fit, with taped seems. Windproof, very lightweight
Timberline: Same fit as Mountain jacket. Adds light fleece lining in various areas, and a hood. Not as cool or...
My son has the jetstream lite and I have the timberline. The jetstream lite is very much like the new mountain jacket. The differences are in fit...jts lite is cut significantly tighter.....and the seams are not taped like on the mountain jacket. There are some pocket differences too, but...
As a photographer, I have had a lot of Nikon products. As a hunter, went to Monarchs way back when and was pretty happy with them, my son still uses the binos I bought probably 20 years ago. So when I got him his first scope, I got a Prostaff 5, 2-10. It was a nice scope in good conditions...
We have a VX3i and a vx6. Both had been used to dial for shots out to 1200 yards and back and forth, no problems with RTZ. That said, for 275 bucks, I think I might save up for something new. One particular thing I like about the vx5 and 6 series of scopes is that you can get two turn locking...
You are welcome!
I do not own a 2400, I am trying to get one on loan for the next part of the review. I have used the 2000 as well as had some time behind the 2400. Most of all, I got to hang out with the Sig folks a bit, spent an hour or more talking with their product specialist and an...
