Congratulations! I don't think many would pass that guy up.
The only reason i have a couple deer over 150" is because they walked in before a 130" deer. Glad Im not the only one who has no self control!
Been there more than once. The only thing that got ride of that sick feeling was arrowing another big deer. It might take a few years, but remember he isnt the only big deer that walks the face of the earth. Stay motivated, now you have a mission.
i also drink heavily and often.
try working the bolt faster. I have nearly the same set up with a PRC ( same scope, low mounted rings). If i work the bolt slow, sometimes the rounds hit the windage and fall in, but that never happends if i sweep the bolt to the rear with adequate speed.
For next season you can have LRI put in...
Few things that have helped me:
I wear them dry.
I change into my driest of three pairs of socks every night, other pairs get shoved in the bottom of the sleeping bag.
I wear my hunting clothes to bed. I have found the kuiu peleton zip-off bottoms and a merino blend shirt have been great...
I've been using feeler gages stacked between the top of the pic rail and the bottom of the scope. Very simple method. As a bonus- the scope will not turn in the rings as you torque down the ring caps.
Interesting. Is this a personal observation or have a source to point to? This has never occurred to me but it makes sense. I assume you mean lowland vs highland of the same species. After all, Marco Polo live at some pretty high elevation.
I am a one rifle guy; its a tikka. I have the magnum, standard, and .223 bolts for it and have a few barrels to swap between. This method allows me to have one premium set up with high end furniture and still shoot whatever caliber that suits my fancy. This frees up more money to spend on hunts.
I have heard of the jackets coming off the bullets in flight with the eldx eldm in the 6.5prc caliber. Has anyone else see evidence as to the veracity of this?
selling a known broken scope is totally unethical. But these scopes are not “broken” by the manufacturers standards. They still function as new, they just will not hold zero. I don’t think selling a scope that doesn’t meet personal requirements is unethical.
