Montana Rifle Co, Shoot2Hunt, and Rokslide Rifle

That makes perfect sense, I had just forgotten that a hinged floor plate was the standard vs the AICS bottom metal on Form's test rifle and this new RokRifle(?).

Montana Rifle Co, Shoot2Hunt, and Rokslide Rifle

I've never been to an SCI event before but since I have been looking for a nice 375 H&H rifle for several years and I have a good friend who lives just a couple blocks away from the event center, I will have to make a trip to see this one. Maybe I'll like the rifle enough to order a couple more...

Help me build out a Ruger American Gen2

In that case, if you have a standard bench vise, these work fine for this application. https://www.amazon.com/NO-M-R-Purpose-Polymer-Groove/dp/B012BVM1E8

Help me build out a Ruger American Gen2

If it's like mine was it's not Loctited on or anything, just a bit of surface corrosion on the threads. Slap it in a barrel vise and either apply heat or give the wrench a tap with a dead blow and it spins right off.

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

The AAC TMK's I recently ordered were .86 a round and ended up being 1.01 a round after tax and shipping. Still not a bad deal considering the black hills load is more like 1.50 a round but considering they grouped almost twice the size of the black hills TMK and mk262 loads at 100 yards out of...

Black Hills 5.56 77 Gr TMK in Ruger American Gen 2 Predator 223

Yeah, I had no issues with the black hills ammo. I also tested several AAC 5.56 loads and had slightly harder bolt lift on a couple of the rounds but no flattened, flowing, or bulging primers.

Black Hills 5.56 77 Gr TMK in Ruger American Gen 2 Predator 223

@ShortMountain91 took the RA gen 2 223 standard out today to shoot with the Black Hills 77 TMK. 10 round group at 100 was a bit under 1" and a 20 round group at 200 was just over 2" with most of that being horizontal shift when the wind started gusting at 15 mph.

Black Hills 5.56 77 Gr TMK in Ruger American Gen 2 Predator 223

I plan to try some this weekend to see how accurate it is in my rifle so I'll let you know afterward. As far as pressure signs using 5.56 in the rifle, I have around 150 rounds of factory ammo through this one so far and I don't think that a single one of them was labeled 223 and haven't seen...

.223, 6mm, and 6.5 failures on big game

I'm not as experienced as some here (only killed around 130 ish deer maybe 150 wild hogs and one elk using mostly the calibers listed in the thread title but several others up to 458 Lott as well) but I have experienced what I would call a bullet failure, meaning the bullet did not perform the...

    Peak refuel chicken recall

That's awesome news since I recently got back from a motorcycle trip where I ate three of the flavors recalled and have no idea, or way to find out, what the lot numbers were. Now I'm really questioning the digestive issues I had toward the end of the trip.

    Suppressor for 6mm and 223

I recently bought an ECCO Five By Five to use on my 10.5" 5.56 SBR due to it's small size and being full auto rated, but I have used it quite a bit on my 18" 223 and 6ARC ARs and my 223 and 6CM bolt rifles and I liked it enough that I have ordered a second one so I can have one that is dedicated...

    Cargo Trailers

I only know about them because it's my hometown, but it's a tiny little town (only had a single caution light and a gas station when I was a kid) about halfway between Cullman and Decatur. I will say the people who work there are great to deal with and this is my second trailer from them; the...

    Cargo Trailers

I recently bought a Homesteader Hercules from Lone Wolf Trailers in Falkville AL, not sure if that's close to you or not, that I have converted into a cargo camper and while it's steel framed it has stayed perfectly dry so far. My only complaints with it so far has been that the framing behind...

    300 Blackout Deer Hunters

Hodgdon has subsonic load data for both with 200-220 grain bullets so yes, but I'll need to see if it will cycle the bolt on my 10.5 SBR, if not then I'll use it for my 357 and try something else for the 300.

    300 Blackout Deer Hunters

I don't have the load data right in front of me but that is right around the powder charge of CFE BLK I was using with the 200 gr Makers. The only issues I had with CFE BLK was that it is a very dirty powder. After I burn up what I have left of that I think I'll be switching to W296/H110

    300 Blackout Deer Hunters

I've only killed one deer with the 300 BLK using a 200 gr Maker REX bullet, this is a solid copper bullet that opens up into three petals about 1" across. The deer was right at 50 yards with a complete pass through it ran about 30 yards before dropping. The damage at that range was certainly...

    FNG from AL

Welcome, also in the HSV area. Closest place that doesn't require a membership and gets you to 200 near Huntsville is Skyline WMA, but 200 is it. If you're willing to do a membership, Hobbs Island Shooting Range goes out to 350, maybe 400. Blue and Gray has 200 in Guntersville and members...

    Suppressed .338 WM

I've not suppressed a 338 WM personally, but I did get the opportunity recently to shoot my buddy's 375 Ruger that he has an 8" ECCO Accipiter 375 on and while it wasn't exactly quite it definitely tamed the recoil and made the blast bearable, I would say it was close to an unsuppressed 22lr, so...

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

I've shot a few coyotes with it and it worked for my purposes; but I didn't actually do any kind of post mortem and while they all died quickly it didn't seem like the bullet had very much expansion based on the exit wounds.

Mono Wound Channels vs Match Bullets

I have shot the 62 grain ttsx with a mv of 2950 quite a bit over the past 4 or 5 years, and have seen similar damage on shots at less than about 50 yards if it hits any bones, beyond that I don't notice much meat damage unless it actually hits the shoulder and even then it is much less. But...
