If you’re just looking from the saw perspective the silky pocket boy is as nice as I’ve used. Gerber makes a little t handle one that’s reasonably priced and works fine for a small job.
If you’re planning on quartering it’s not necessary but gutting and taking out whole I like to cut the...
Free bump for an awesome scope - I looked for one of those little Zeiss’s forever on my last model seven build and never did find it, ending up having to go a different route
I don’t know of many sales that Spartan does but I’ll highly recommend getting with @Happy Antelope to get whatever set up you need. Paul has been great with every question I had when swapping over
My wife has been shooting the factory Barnes stuff for 2-3 years, haven’t seen anything more accurate in the rifle. No issues other than a lack of blood which seems to be fairly common with the Barnes. If you like the high shoulder shot I’m not sure there’s a better choice
Reading through the...
I would expect to pay around $1k with the scope, you may get a little more if someone was after a 7-08. Sweet little rifle, I’d love to pick up another one of these
I stopped at 243, which does a fine job if you do your part. I’ve owned up to a 300 wby and wsm, didn’t notice anything except dead animals and extra recoil.
I prefer the 25-06, 270, 7mm-08, 308, 30-06 class of cartridges just to buy a little extra forgiveness and no real punishment for it...
I’d shoot accubonds or partitions in almost anything if they were readily available hand you don’t have to sell your soul to afford them (Nosler ammo). I shoot a lot of Barnes and the experience is exactly as you described, little to no blood but dead deer. If hunting in thick stuff punch...
Following, surely there’s a good answer out there.
I’m trying it without packing the bibs, just walking in mostly unzipped. Pack the boot covers, puffy and jacket.
I’ve given some serious consideration to a pair of puffy pants to solve the pack ability then something soft over the top.
Fit is the same for me, it’s warmer.
The warmth probably has to do with how it’s being layered. If you have that heavy base layer under something like a set of bibs and walk in a mile the furnace may be causing you to sweat and then they don’t get dried out.
I liked the furnace bottom but I agree there are better options for a mid layer on the top.
I also love my kiln, I don’t think I’ve been without this season
I only use eBay once I’ve determined it isn’t selling elsewhere. The fees suck but they’ve always held my funds until the tracking shows delivery. I think it is related to the amount of business you do with them.
I use one of your chest rigs and it’s been my favorite of 3. I’m not sure what’s in the design that’s different but it carries better than anything I’ve had. (I’ve really debated on giving the bino harness a shot now). I’d really like either some pals on the inside where I could mount...
Very similar terrain here, I swapped to the Maven B3 8x30’s last year. It’s a lot of glass for the money and you’ll have some left to put toward something else.
If you’re doing more of the 500 yards they have a B1 in 10x42 and their B2 in 9x45 & 11x45. You can definitely pick them up at your...
