I'm actually in DC proper. Not ideal, but the new job is helping with housing and they assumed since I'm young I would want to be in the city. Just means extra windshield time for the next year or so when I want to get to the woods.
Have checked out some state land in Maryland and been using...
Hey everyone,
I've been on Rokslide for a bit but recently moved to the DMV area and figured I would say hey and see who else might be in the region. I'm looking forward to exploring some new areas down here, especially the larger public tracts further west in VA.
I'm originally from CT and...
Yea, I was considering at the very least going to amsteel daisy chains on the sticks to get rid of the metal buckles and maybe adding an aider or two. A friend just ordered everything to one-stick so I'll probably try that out and see if I like it before spending anything.
I assume you're...
I find my saddle more comfortable than my hang-ons and about the same as my summit climber. After 5-6 hours I find anything pretty uncomfortable and full day sits in the saddle can wear on you. I'm also a pretty trim 6'1" 195 and have heard that having a "wider seat" (being larger) gives the...
I’m in CT, but visit Boston a lot. Heading to SD in October. Would like to get another one in, starting to think about planning AZ coues for late Dec/Jan. If I can’t make that happen, I might try hunting the White Mountains or Adirondacks (more for the change of scenery than expecting success haha).
I’ve heard Remi Warren say that he takes a pair of foam dollar store flip flops, cuts off the toe straps and then puts them in pair of wool socks. I haven’t personally tried it, but would imagine it works if he’s using it.
Archers Advantage has pretty much everything you could want IMO for $12/year, which is really nothing. You can build and spec pretty much any combo of shafts and components, there’s the spine selector, you can generate accurate sight tapes, print targets and more. Not the most intuitive and...
Thanks for the replies so far. Looks like I might go with RIP TKOs. Cost isn't a huge factor, I just don't like spending money if there's an equal quality product for less, but sounds like the TKO's are worth it. As far as collars, I'm not totally opposed, I've just always tried to keep things...
I shoot 70 lbs @ 31" and am looking to build an all around arrow for elk and deer sized game. I'm looking to switch from my current arrow setup, which for a few seasons has been:
30" 250 spine 5mm FMJ
50 grain brass HIT
100 grain head
max stealth 3 fletch.
Total arrow weight ~535 grains w/...
My recommendation, as with everything whether archery, golf, shooting, etc. is that the money spent on learning right from the start is worth way more than having better equipment and not knowing how to use it. So with that said, I would allocate some money towards taking some lessons from a...
Two, I have a Hoyt Axius Ultra and just picked up an Xpedition DLX to play with and set up as a backup.
@Elkdreamer The reviews on those new Athens make them seem like an absolute winner. I'd be interested to hear how you like it after a little while.
The tool from Easton has worked fine for me and I pretty much just follow their instructions. Don't overdo it with the epoxy, wipe the tool every arrow or two to prevent excess epoxy build up. I seat with one end of the tool and then use the other to test that it stayed seated.
