    Best Light 250 Spines?

No complaints with RIP TKO 250s. At 8.9 gpi, I think they’re about as light as you can get in a 250 and they have proven to be very durable. Haven’t been tempted to try anything else since switching from FMJs.

    140 inch 8 point?

Awesome! Didn’t realize I missed the older post.

    140 inch 8 point?

This post is a year old. @Limbhanger did you ever put a tape on him?

Small 6 pointer strut-stomping (not spooked), anyone knows why?

Sounds like he (i) felt something was off but not enough to outright blow out or (ii) had that good young buck testosterone flowing where they don't know what to do with it and just generally act more aggressive even if there are no other deer nearby

    Best Dual Pin Picatinny Sight???

If you're highly focused on scope housing diameter then I would consider ruling out BG as their housing is 1.75" (not as big as the triple stack but certainly bigger than the rest). If you remove the triple stack and BG your options are really: -HHA Tetra Ryz (pic-adapter that looks pretty...

    Recipes for Whitetail burger

Bolognese is a great option and freezes pretty well. Make a big batch and then thaw as needed.

    Bear Bourguignon

Next time maybe try a cornstarch slurry to thicken it up. That usually works better than flour. I also sometimes add a packet or two of unflavored gelatin powder to my beef stew to give it more body and a better mouth feel so you could also try that.

    Best Dual Pin Picatinny Sight???

I have used the regular Fast Eddie XL dovetail double pin for several years and it has been bulletproof. I’m unintentionally hard on my gear and that sight has earned my trust that it will always be on. In my opinion, the downsides are (i) it’s heavy, (ii) fiber could be brighter although...

Trijicon Tenmile 3-18x44mm Field Eval Q&A

Through continued field use, has anybody encountered any performance issues with the Tenmile? The strong performance in Forms testing and all around positive feedback are swaying me to pick one up soon for a 7 PRC I won in a raffle - very soon if someone runs a Black Friday sale on them. Just...

    Calling in mountain/timber bucks

In my limited experience, I’ve had success grunting bucks in once they’re within sight. This has usually been set up over some form of rut funnel. I generally assume calling to be less effective in mountain areas due to lower densities and worse buck to doe ratios so don’t typically blind call...

    2025 Hoyt’s

More or less what I was expecting. This is year 4 of this generation / riser configuration (at least for the carbon series) so they continue to make incremental tweaks to try and improve the bow. Prices aside, they seem to have addressed key areas. Guys have been complaining about mass weight...

    Flying with archery equipment

Not as much experience flying as others on here, but as stated above, I’ve packed my pack, all clothes, bow, arrows, broadheads, etc. in a double SKB without problem. I request a TSA inspection and put on non-TSA locks when done so nobody can mess with it. I also carry TSA locks in case anyone...

    Insoles…expensive mistake??

I don’t have much to offer in the way of help but curious if your SheepFeet were made with the molds or their new camera/scanning app?

    Leica CRF Pro Rangefinder

Does anybody who bought a CRF-Pro have more to report back now that we’re deeper into hunting season? I’m looking hard at this since the instant EHR seemed to fix the one complaint Leicas typically received but some of the quality issues sound concerning. I was pretty much down to this and the...

Talk to me about your archery training schedule

I 100% agree with a lot of the above about putting pressure on yourself and practicing hunting scenarios but I think that’s after you have a foundation built. In my opinion you have to shoot groups to get better and understand how consistent your shot is. A lot of the year, I prioritize tight...

    Bighorn Sheep unlimited areas Montana

@buffybr those are some epic pictures! As someone on the younger side, I always love the older photos showing guys getting it done without all the gear and technology we have today

    Venison recipes

Made a Bolognese with venison for the first time last week and it came out very good. Pretty much the same process as any bolognese of which there are plenty of recipes on the internet. I didn't freeze any this go around but it strikes me as something that would freeze very well. I would say...

    Sheep Feet Scanned Insoles?

Has anyone ordered Sheep Feet using the new method where you use your phone to take scans of your feet? Even better if you can compare the end product versus the previous iteration where you took molds of your feet. I've been considering trying these for a while but am more skeptical of the new...

Recommendations for Do-it-all boots in Central VA hunting

From someone who really struggles with proper boot fit due to heel slippage, I would echo the comments above on focusing on fit first. I finally settled on the Crispi Colorados and have used them for a couple years here in VA hunting in the hills/mountains and used them in the breaks in Montana...

Roll up Footprint with Tent or Separately?

Complete beginner when it comes to backpacking but have been acquiring the necessary equipment and planning to gain some experience to expand my hunting opportunities in the future. I plan on starting out using a footprint and one question I've had that I haven't been able to find an answer to...
