I use the Neewer aluminum version at 3 pounds. It is fairly stable for glassing. It is sort of stable for shooting. It will not be stable enough to shoot 1/4 inch groups but it does well enough to keep me on 12x12 steel targets to about 600 yards.

Just because we were taught things in the military does not make them true. Red dots are absolutely faster in 99.99% of scenarios to include close quarters battle. And they are 100% capable of very heavy recoiling rifles. A 5.56 or 7.62 will do nothing to these.

I went with the Altra boot after far too much money spent on all the cool guy brands. Most boots were too stiff, too tight fitting, ridiculously priced...etc. The Altras have been good for their first 100 miles of rusck training.

I looked at thensame packs. When I got my hands on the the Sawtooth made the most sense to me. I was very disappointed with the pop up. I really was hoping that one would work out. It was...floppy.
