    Need New Gaiters

I don't wear them often, but I always keep a pair of Kenetreks in my pack. When I've needed them, they've worked very well.

    Stove on a day hunt

I'd bring it. You're day hunting, so there probably won't be a lot of other weight in your pack. A midday cup of hot cocoa or coffee is a real luxury to supplement your snacks.

How Many Still Prefer To Hunt Alone?

For the most part, I much prefer to hunt by myself so I can enjoy my experience in peace, instead of having to sooth and cottle to others' needs and feelings. I'd give anything to hunt with my dad or gramps again, but other than that, I'm fine solo.

    Your first deer rifle?

742 3006 that I got for my 15th Christmas in '71. Killed a boxcar full of deer with it in a little over 40 years. These days my primary is a Montana in 7-08.

What did you do in the reloading room today?

Prepped and primed 30 pieces of 7-08 brass for my Alberta moose hunt. Tomorrow I'll charge and seat bullets.

Thoughts on open sights for moose hunt?

You have to pay for your rifle case as a checked bag anyway, so might as well get a two rifle Pelican case (or the Harbor Freight knock off). I'm always well under the 50lb limit.

    field dressing responsibilities?

I'm heading to Alberta in a couple of weeks. If I'm fortunate enough to punch my tag, I'll be involved in the process, for sure.

Driving into Canada with long guns

Looking to cross at Sweet Grass Montana. Form 5589 is already filled out (do I need more than 1 copy? Hell, I'll make a couple of copies anyway), and just ordered some trigger locks. @HandgunHTR, the shotgun seems to meet unrestricted criteria. Straight '70s Beretta semi auto 20ga field gun...

Driving into Canada with long guns

I'll be driving from the US into Canada at the end of Sept., for an Alberta moose hunt. I'll be crossing the border with two rifles, a Kimber Montana bolt rifle and a Savage 99 lever gun. I'll also have a Beretta AL-2 semi auto shotgun with 26" bbl., since I'll be stopping in Wyoming for some...

Thoughts on open sights for moose hunt?

I'm heading for a moose hunt in Alberta, the first week in Oct. My primary rifle will be a Savage 99F in .308 Win, with factory irons. If, after a few days, I can't get within 150 yards, I'll trade out to a scoped Montana in 7-08. Really hoping to get it done old school though.

Powering a chest freezer at a motel

Thanks to you, and the others, that answered the question as posed.

Powering a chest freezer at a motel

Or perhaps someone doesn't know what an inverter generator is....as opposed to a DC/AC inverter.

Powering a chest freezer at a motel

I have an inverter outlet in my truck console. I'm told it's not enough to power the freezer compressor. I'm not looking to install one with larger capacity for a one shot deal.

Powering a chest freezer at a motel

Thanks. Yeah, that's my intention. I have a 2500 watt inverter, but it won't fit with all my other gear. So the freezer will be a cooler while I'm on the road, and plugged in while at the motels. I'd even be willing to pay a few bucks extra.

Powering a chest freezer at a motel

If I'm lucky, I'll be heading home from Alberta in Oct. with a freezer full of frozen moose meat. It will be a 4-5 day drive, and I'll be overnight in motels. I'm hoping to run an extension cord to the freezer while I'm there. Has anyone here done this, and if so, was the motel okay with it or not?

    Kowa Genesis 8x33

I have had mine for over 3 yrs now. Even when I'm on the tripod with my 10.5x44s, the 8x33s are always on my chest. They've become essential to me. And yes, they are threaded for a stud.

Limit on meat brought back into USA from Canada?

This^^^^^^^ I just called Sweet Grass crossing today. They transfered me to a Fish and Wildlife officer. She told me the same thing @Buffalo170 posted above.
