This post struck a sour spot that I've had for a long time. Back in 1996 I had a business that was doing well. My business partner suggested we do a Dall Sheep hunt to celebrate. The cost was 10k at the time - which was a ton of money to me at the time - just like 25-30k is a ton of money to me...
Honestly - I get why you are asking having waited 16 years - but all of the units you mention are great. With 16 points I assume you are not a resident. So if you are going guided, don't worry about how much wilderness there is in a unit - just find a good, reputable outfitter with a good track...
it is expensive - your right! I bought the reloading equipment for it about 20 years ago but haven't used it in a while. I ended up letting my son take the reloading stuff to his place in Bozeman Montana but I think I'm going to have him send that stuff back to me. I have the empty brass and he...
good advice. Thank you. Let me see if my approach makes sense to you. My goal is to be able to confidently harvest an antelope and mule deer at 500 yards. In order to do this I'm thinking I need to be within 6 inches of the bullseye at 500 yards. If you have a different opinion on this I'm happy...
Hey guys,
I'm going to date myself a bit but I'm ok with it. I purchased my Remington model 700 in 300 Weatherby new back around 1988?? I bought it with the intent of having one rifle that I could use for about anything. Truth is I recently thought about getting something different with all of...
I've got the Hanwag Alaskans. Best boot I've ever owned. Took a while to break in - but once they were, couldn't ask for a better boot. I did put aftermarket foot pads in and treat them with Snow Seal once in a while.
Great moose story! If you want to keep the air charter company confidential I completely get it - but it can't hurt to ask. Do you mind telling me who you used and what you thought of them?
Hey Guys,
My buddy has a Parker Cross Bow and is getting ready for a Whitetail hunt in Illinois. He was going to go buy some bolts today and found out Parker went out of business. Any ideas on what he might do? He said he needs 20" bolts with capture nocks? I'm sure someone will offer a...
From one 53 year old to another - impressive sir! That's a long a-- shot, but you proved you were capable of taking it. 70 is about the best I can muster and I've been hunting with a bow for 43 years.
That guide has coconut balls! Impressive! He earned his tip this time no doubt! As the archery hunter I don't think I'd feel right calling that bear mine - even though I'm sure the mount or rug ended up at his house. Both of his shots were obviously not the desired outcome.
Don't use the client as your alarm clock.
Don't ask the client to hold a spot light for you to shoot a mule deer at night.
Don't blow smoke up a client's a-- trying to get a bigger tip - they see right through it.
I have experienced all of the above from "guides"
Have fun with it. Be a...
Hello - I saw where you replied to my post about becoming a Deputy at 54 years old. Would you mind telling me where they hire older deputies in your area?
Thanks for all of the input guys! Many of you have made me laugh with your stories about the job. I know it's really not funny, but I can/do have a dark sense of humor.
For all that did or are doing the job, thank you very much! The guys doing the job well are truly my hero's! I'll probably...
