Go with the inReach, no question. They use different satellite networks and the iridium network, used by garmin, is far better.
The inReach functionality, paired with a smartphone, works really well.
I hunted late September in ID last year. We were at about 7000ft and in some snow. For that hunt I was wearing un-insulated boots.
Unless you are walking most/all day, I'd probably error on side of insulated in late Oct in ID.
Less than 35-40 degrees, I am usually in 200-400 gram boots.
I use the Kifaru Gun Bearer. I thought it would bother me under the arm too, but I doesn't. I highly recommend it. I previously tried the Kuiu and exo options.
With 2-3 people, I use a Platypus GravityWorks. It is awesome! And I use the clean water back as a back up bladder when I need to carry more water between dry spots.
I bring a steripen or tablets as a backup.
Anyone have experience with the Nallo and Anjan? I like the Anjan being 1.5# lighter. Would I be sacrificing much with the Anjan. I am in the PNW (Wet, not that cold).
Thanks
Black Diamond Revolt has worked well for me. That is my first headlamp with the locking feature (so it doesn't accidentally turn on), which is really nice. The Revolt can also run on disposable batteries if the rechargeable batteries die.
Havalon for game. Leatherman multi tool for general use and jointing an animal (where the havalon blades are too flimsy). I have been using that 2 knife system for a couple years and wouldn't go back.
Ordered a Ranger Green 3500 on 4/28. No shipping notification yet.
I have a hard time waiting, but I am sure it will be with it.
Like others, Steve is very quick to respond.
