Great point. And furthermore, just because Scope Model XYZ passed this test when Formidilosus did it, that doesn’t automatically mean that my scope of the exact same model will pass the exact same test. Testing the one I bought is the only way to tell if I might have the rare dud on an otherwise...
I have a 1978 (Japan made) Auto-5 magnum 12 gauge with a 32" barrel. It's in good shape-- some of the blue rubbed off and a handful of scratches that I included in photos, but overall very well kept by an elderly gentleman who was the original owner until this year. $700.

You're going to see a lot of sub-MOA groups of 10+ shots posted in that thread with T3X Lite/Superlite rifles. But also a lot of 1.1-1.3 MOA groups, along with an occasional 2+MOA group, too.
Stealth camp
What is Stealth Camping? Stealth camping is the act of camping in an urban area that is not necessarily meant for overnight camping. While there are no “campsites” when you stealth camp, there are plenty of legal places to park overnight in your van without drawing attention to...
Congrats on your new purchase.
I can't say for sure it will fit. The SHV 4-14 is at the bare minimum, and I wouldn't be able to slide the scope back much if I needed to (and that can vary a little by shooter). The SHV and the Maven you picked have the same outside diameter for the objective--...
For the most part, the dies you'll find available for sale will be listed as .223 Remington and not 5.56 NATO. The same dies will work for cases stamped .223 Remington and cases stamped 5.56 NATO; this is because both have identical outside dimensions.
Got it. To tighten to a slightly narrow plate, turn the lever clockwise all the way, then pull it out away from the body of the head, and while holding it out, turn it back counter clockwise and then release. Repeat and/or adjust until you have a snug fit.
For backpack hunting around here I like the Sawyer Squeeze if it’s just 1-2 people. Bring the plunger with you to backwash regularly so the flow remains good, since it doesn’t take long to gum it up unless you’re refilling from a good sized creek (which aren’t to be found often in the alpine)...
That’s helpful information that narrows things down a lot.
For glass, you’ll want to stick to 8x or 10x binoculars, imo. 12x and 15x is more than you are likely to be able to take advantage of given our thick areas down low, and up high the terrain and usual lack of visibility. Plus the weight...
Bits of carbon can build up in a bore. Carbon is far harder than steel. The bore snake can break them loose on the first pull through, and they will lodge in the fabric. If you do a second pull through without washing the fabric, you will be dragging tiny carbon bits across the steel and...
You'll see Costco trekking poles mentioned often as the best bang-for-the-buck. You'll also see Cascade Mountain Tech poles mentioned similarly. They are the same product.
