Yeah most of their models are scarc le in 270 now. I want to also roll the dice again on an extreme weather 270.
I’m not a tikka fanboy (I dislike the small trigger guard, low capacity dbm, and 1 size fits all action), but outside of them and maybe bergara I think most factory guns involve...
Sample size of 2
Not a super grade, but have a 2019 vintage extreme weather in 30-06 that throws patterns vs groups. I like the action and format so much that I’m considering salvaging the action for a new barrel and McMillan stock upgrade. Fit and finish are excellent.
Have a NIB 70...
I just bought both.
For me a tikka hunting rifle requires the purchase of a recoil pad, an aftermarket bottom metal as the trigger guards are undersized for gloved use and getting used to a light & crisp trigger with loads of overtravel.
A howa needs a new stock and potentially a timney...
Posting this to not add to the off-topic nature of the the recent chamber dimension thread.
For those who have extensively experimented with not cleaning their bores, what do you do with moisture exposure from field conditions or high humidity? Let rust go and shoot it out?
Nosler 21 in 280 ai or 6.5 CM. Checked a few out this weekend and the fit and finish is excellent, I’m sure they will shoot stuff dead.
Or a Tikka shooting TMKs. You’ll save on the rifle and on therapy bills as you will never run short of confirmation bias from the hive mind to make your heart...
Plenty of time to reload, switch to your spotting scope and spot your impact.
put a can on that thing and they won’t here you a half mile away for follow up shots.
No lupold scope to break.
No bolt to bind (supposedly a big Rokslide concern favoring Tikkas).
I think we just found the new...
Expansion, original diameter, meplat shape and weight retention doing the job vs fragments.
I of course wouldn’t want to pull a Quigly with a 45-70 hardcast at a half mile like some of the shots I’m seeing on the .223 thread, but at 600 yards a 430gr hardcast from Buffalo Bore is going about...
I’ve had good luck with Barnes TTSX.
With hits vitals the animals seem just as dead as anything else I’ve used. Most have been “bang flops” on chest shots, which tells me it doesn’t take a grenade to achieve that result.
Always showed good expansion, and quickly. Always exits, including...
My experience is with 165 gr in 30-06 at sub 100 yard ranges on a handful of deer.
I believe most if not all exits were narrow, however evidence of initial expansion was dramatic. I’m not saying it didn’t perform or expand, just that they tend to lose that front half and lay the remaining...
Well the gunbroker gods decided for me.
Looks like Winchester has shipped some stainless model 70 featherweights in 6.5 CM, even though they are not listed on their website.
Always thought they were pretty. Have one on the way.
I’m guessing 6.5 will work fine assuming shot placement etc...
I lost some sleep after stumbling onto these tests.
I had a Leupold from Amazon during the pandemic not able to zero at all when I received it, but chalked that up to mis handling .
I don’t take long pokes at animals, but will be looking elsewhere for future purchases. It really sucks as the...
