    NFL Playoffs

Yeah, after how they targeted Favre in the 2009 NFC Championship game the Saints don't deserve much empathy. I agree it's karma coming back to bite them in the arse, and it's fun to watch.

    NFL Playoffs

Rudolph definitely pushed, but the DB had hands on him before that. I think it falls under the "let the boys play" philosophy during playoff time. Your Saints offense was making me very nervous in the 4th quarter though. We couldn't stop Hill and Brees started picking us apart and driving the...

    NFL Playoffs

Vikes fan here so I'm biased, but I saw both Rudolph and the DB messing with each other so it's a good no call. I also spotted several PI's on New Orleans earlier in the game that were not called. At any rate......SKOLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!

New (to me) Vanguard spotter - Feedback appreciated

There is definitely a learning curve, but it's a fun one and totally worth it. I moved here from MN 16 years ago and only knew whitetail hunting at the time too. The biggest advice I can give is - don't hunt elk like whitetails. That's the mistake I made and I wasted the first 3-4 years...

19 preference points in Colo. Need some help from the Rokslide crew.

If it were me, I would go with 44 or 66 in 4th season. The bucks will be lower in the BLM stuff then, snow shouldn't be a huge issue. I'd recommend having an ATV to get through rough and slick roads but you should be fine.

New (to me) Vanguard spotter - Feedback appreciated

I have the same scope but it's older than yours. They ran a special a few years ago for $550 with a tripod included, and there were a bunch of great reviews on here about it so I couldn't pass it up. When I bought it I borrowed my buddy's Swarovski and compared them side by side. Not a true...

Late to the party BRO ELK

That's my understanding as well. I believe that's why 4 guys went to AZ for 1 tag, that was the one special draw that happened this year. I like BRO, but I would agree that this year's content has too much filler time. I understand why. Like a poster above said, it's about lengthening the...

Great pieces from non hunting brands

I'm not loyal to any brand, but I try to stay away from brands that I've heard are anti-hunting. (Don't remember the names but basically, I don't shop at REI) I typically use Sitka outer layers but for everything underneath it doesn't matter who makes it. I found some great merino T's on...

A piece of gear you dont need or havent owned

Interesting replies on here. So much of this is situational. I always bring my spotting scope, but a lot of times I leave it in the truck. Can be very useful in open country. A saw is great for cutting out the skull plate, that's always in my pack. Also useful for cutting below the shanks...

    Superficial Blood Clot

I recommend getting a second (or third and fourth) opinion as well. They can test you for genetic predisposition to clotting, as far as I know (I'm not a doctor) that will tell you if you need to be on blood thinners. Doctors have told me that people get and pass clots all the time and don't...

    Need some hunt ideas

Thanks guys. All good ideas, I'll need to start sorting things out here before application season. Looks like a lot of great options out there so I won't be bored. Fishing is always an option too, I fly fish and "regular" fish. I know I have missed out on some great fall fishing in the past...

Agreed, antelope are a blast because you can have action all day long. Not just dawn and dusk. But man, they're hard enough to spot and stalk with a rifle sometimes! That's an impressive feat to sneak within bow range on a 'lope. Might be a good opportunity for me to buy a decoy to help with...

Social media's influence on outdoor recreation

I agree with this. Back in my 20s when I lived in the midwest it was pre-internet, and making a trip out west for elk seemed like the same undertaking as a sheep hunting trip to Uzbekistan. Overwhelming. Social media removed the communication barriers, so there are more people heading west to...

Rob5589 - That's interesting that you suggest taking a break from hunting. Mine was finalized in August and I did all my normal hunts from September to November this year. I think it was the best thing for me, to be out in the mountains doing what I love to do. After my first trip I finally...

It seems your experience with divorce has been completely negative, sorry to hear that. I can tell you from my experience that sometimes life can be vastly improved by removing someone from it. We all have our own unique circumstances.

I hear ya, and trust me I'm well aware of the difficulties this presents now and in the future. I've seen plenty already. It wasn't a decision I made lightly, I pondered it for a couple years. The results have told me I made the right decision for the kids. Their well being is first...
