Important point. I started college as civil, switched to mechanical, then back to civil. All due to internships and getting familiar with what I'd likely be doing after graduation.
I'm a civil working in the Denver area. There are a lot of job opportunities as a civil in Colorado, we have a far more difficult time finding good graduate level engineers nowadays as compared to 20 years ago. As others have mentioned, he'll advance to better positions/higher pay if he takes...
Went with 76 and got the affirmative email last week. Time to dial in the bow and get the fitness 100% squared away. I've got at least one buddy coming out to help on one trip, possibly a second for a second trip, then maybe a third solo trip. Will be camping and scouting there in two weeks...
Some more background - the limited time issue is something that's not going away soon. Single parent. I want to burn at 10 points because I'm entering no man's land between 10 and 20. I have good places I can hunt at 0-2 points that I want to get back to.
I guess the crux of the question is...
I have 10 points for elk in Colorado. Looking at an archery hunt this year - deciding between units 40, 49 and 76. Should be able to draw any of those three.
Sort of leaning towards 49 because I have limited time and it's close to home so I could hunt multiple weekends. I've heard about land...
I want to throw my name in the hat on this post too. I do have some good hunting partners, but the last few years it's been next to impossible to get people on the same page so I'd like to add some more. Have any of you had a chance to get together to grab a beer? I'd be up for it sometime...
Thanks for this thread, I'm adding a few more shows to my list as well because of it.
I really enjoy Necronomipod for true crime stories. Ian does a good job researching the cases, and Mike and Dave add some hilarious color commentary. The Casey Anthony and Jeffrey Epstein episodes are highly...
Colorado here. I drew mountain goat after 7 years in 2012, I drew a ram tag this year after 16 years. It was the hunt of a lifetime and worth the wait. Now I'll try to get a desert bighorn tag for 5 years while I sit in the penalty box. At 45 years old I doubt I'll ever draw a rocky mountain...
Great idea for a thread. Life is good and we need to be grateful! I'm in taper week for first rifle elk season next weekend. Yesterday was a 4 mile hike in some beautiful country, today is an off day that included cooking up a couple meals for elk camp and finishing off the garden harvesting.
Interesting topic. I grew up in a family where it was pre-determined you should go to college, so I got a civil engineering degree. It hasn't failed me, I think college is great for STEM related professions.
Over the course of my career (20+ years) I've run across high school educated folks...
Circling back around on this.
Long story short: I "missed" him on day 4, then we figured out on day 5 he was actually hit and we went back in on day 6 and got him. Backing up - On the morning of day 4 we were glassing, around 9:00 my guide told me he wanted me to go back to camp and rest...
