I'd expect it to eventually, but I was disappointed how quickly the kifaru ones wore out. I've heard more people talk about kifaru foam wearing out quickly than other brands(confirmation bias maybe), so I'm hoping to get some more longevity out of the stone glacier. I don't see replacement...
Agreed. I've got a duplex lite and burned through a set of shoulder straps in a couple seasons, and I'm not even a very hard user. I don't see how someone like a guide could even get a full season before they're about as comfortable as seatbelt webbing.
I just picked up a Stone Glacier, partly...
Do you or anyone have any more experience or insight into this? That difference would probably be a deal breaker; a little bit of standing height in the middle vs slightly ducking all the time.
I would. Stove weather usually means no bugs but prime conditions for condensation. It would be nice to be able to go full floorless but still have that barrier. I like the half liners, so there's the option of one or both.
Sounds like an achievable, lightweight target.
I'm currently at about a 31lb pack baseweight(pack and gear inside it only), plus 20ish 'worn weight', so clothing, binos, rifle, trekking poles, etc. 70lb skin out for ten days with food and 2L water for a september trip is the goal, but I'm not...
Headlamp, buff, bug headnet in early season, sunglasses, chapstick, maybe some gummy bears if I'll be hiking for a while and want a snack handy without taking my pack off. I like space to jam Mechanix gloves or my beanie when i take them off instead of a sweaty pocket. I was keeping my...
Cheers thanks! I was looking at my medium kifaru belt pouch the other day and didn't think it would be a great fit on a K4, but I like the size of it. These look like a solid choice.
A bit late, but yes. Not seek outside, but liteoutdoors, 3" titanium pipe with their stovepipe end ring. The end ring just friction fit onto the stove body, I gave it a couple wacks with a rubber mallet and it won't come off. Fit the stove pipe over the end ring, and slide the lowest cable ring...
I use a mystery ranch lid on an exo 6400, on a kifaru frame. Bit of a mutt of a pack. I like the MR lid, two big pockets, and it lays nicely over a full pack. I use a 2L bladder in the forward pocket, which I like keeping it out of the pack for access and leakage risk. The other pocket is plenty...
I'm not at all familiar with it, but there's a photo on the Peax website from the top down of the interior of the solitude, with two guys, gear, and stove. It looks incredibly cramped, both guys jammed up against the wall of the tent, anything touching it no doubt wet from condensation, a bit...
I use a nuway 4000 propane stove in my 8man with a 30lb tank. A 3" titanium stovepipe from lite outdoors fits perfect and saves a ton of space when packed vs a traditional pipe.
Instant heat, no stoking, no gathering and processing wood, no smoke, no sparks. A 30lb tank will run a long time...
I can't speak to the tactical frame, but I've carried meat in the load shelf on a lite frame and had no issues with anything poking me in the back. I did keep it in a trash bag to keep blood from getting everywhere. I think it would have to be something pretty awkward to make it through the gap...
