I have a 1963 model 700 that slam fired on me twice. It wasn’t adverse conditions at all. I replaced the trigger with a Timney. I’m not a trigger expert, but the Internet says they are safer. It is certainly a better trigger than the original, and I find it easier to shoot now.
Trigger...
Ask for what you want. The worst that can happen is she/they will say you can’t have it, and you already don’t have it… so you cannot lose.
Say yes to what you want to do. Say no to what you don’t want to do (unless you’re just saying no out of fear or laziness). Here’s the hardest part...
My grandmother when she thought we were not being 100% truthful. “You’re as full of shit as a Christmas turkey”. Never could figure that one out.
Actually this one I learned from my son who came back from the army with it, but it’s pretty funny. “ This is your goat to fxxk… I’m just holding...
Not trying to start anything. Actually, I’m always trying to learn. Possibly I’mmistaken. is your contention about the 243 vs the 6.5 based on actual shooting in the field, or at the range, or on a ballistics program.
When war breaks out, the most principled people are the doctors, nurses, and other aid workers who care for the wounded and feed the displaced regardless of politics. Often at the cost of severe physical danger to themselves and even death.
Kudos to him and those like him everywhere.
He may be in for some serious grief at the civil trial. An employee of his company was killed on the job as a result of company practices. By a principal of the company. There is certainly some culpability there.
I’ve been curious about something all along though. At the moment on set...
This reminds me of something one of my work buddies did to me. I have a habit of nodding off after lunch if it’s a warm day. We’d just eaten and we’re driving back to the shop… I’m in the passenger seat trying but not succeeding in staying awake. He notices this.
He sees a semi truck being...
I can feel it pull on my body as I sit here at my kitchen table. I tightly grip the seat of my wooden chair with both hands as it is dragged towards the door, the legs scraping on the tile floor. The car keys fly off the peg and into my hand and seconds later I’m rudely sucked into the drivers...
I Also use a cut off rubber glove finger. I don’t run any tape over the end, just a rubber band around the barrel to hold the glove finger on. The nitrile gloves seem to be tougher than latex. I carry a few extra fingers and rubber bands in my pack.
There’s a sticky thread at the top of the firearms section. Fairly new design. I’ve never tried one but apparently this comb/stock design reduces perceived recoil and makes it easier to acquire a sight picture and maintain proper form.
I put a vertical grip on my T3 and I really like it.
It’s a fudd cartridge. All the deer that I’ve killed with it don’t know this. I should also mention most of them I was using a walnut stocked 1963 R 700 ($180) topped with a Tasco scope, spitting Winchester 165G silver tips. Not the cheap Tasco…, the $179 one!
To be fair, my current rig is a...
I’ve got a ‘63 Remington 700 30-06 that slam fired on me twice since I bought it NOS in 1988. Replaced the trigger with a Timney and I’m much happier with it. I trust it now.
Get a rifle (or bow) and go out in the woods. Be careful not to shoot anybody. Don’t expect to be successful right away and don’t put a lot of pressure on yourself. This is how I started all by myself in 1988. Like you I asked a lot of questions and read a lot, but there’s no substitute for...
