How to get started in Reloading?

As Seand says above, a Lee reloading kit will have almost everything you need. I started about five years ago. Since then I have upgraded to a better balance beam scale. (the scale that comes with the lee kIt is kind of cheap, but it works.). I also bought a second single stage press. That...

Tikka T3 factory mag.. Can I use a 6.5 CM mag for 7mm-08?

Before I took it out of the bag, I measured it and realized that the “filler block” at the butt end of the 6.5 CM mag is 1/10” thinner than the factory mag for .308 based cartridges. So that means the bolt has to be pulled back 1/10” farther to pick up the cartridge rim. It also means you can...

Tikka T3 factory mag.. Can I use a 6.5 CM mag for 7mm-08?

I have a T 3 in 7mm-08 and I just bought a 6.5 CM 5 round mag. (They didn’t have the right mag in stock). Haven’t taken it out of the package yet. At the store we pulled a 7mm-08 cartridge out of a box and it fit nicely in a mag we took out of a T3x chambered in 6.5 CM. It appeared to have...

    Voter turnout

Where I live you can take your mail in ballot, fill it out at your leisure, and drop it off in person where you can watch it go into a box at the courthouse. This is definitely more convenient than standing in line. The down ballot local races took more time to research. Who are the best...

    Voter turnout

I had a mail in ballot that I waited too long to mail, so I drove over to the courthouse and put it in the drop box myself today. I heard that over 50% of voters in my county took advantage of early voting or mailed it in, so it was really quiet at the courthouse.

    Dry Fire system?

I’m just kidding….I don’t actually dry fire at people. Rude. Still working on developing a sarcasm emoji. I live in town and I’m pretty sure that I’d very quickly get a visit from the local swat team. Speaking of swat team, I did have the swat team show up in front of my house one morning...

    Dry Fire system?

I dont wanna spring $129 for a poster, and I think my wife would get fairly annoyed with it. I just poke my rifle barrel out the window when she’s not home, and dry fire at passers-by who are at least 100 yards away. I can’t see how this would be a problem.

Harvesting Fur and Feathers for Tying Flies

I tied flies for a long time. Steelheadmike’s comment nails it. If you can find materials already prepped it’s the way to go. The stuff I used the most was peacock herl, ostrich herl, and chicken rooster hackles from barred rock and red chickens. Also buck tail, turkey, and duck feathers.

What kind of animal is this?

I’m 66 years old, and I’ve definitely noticed I’m getting softer as I get older. Nowadays, The only animal that I kill on sight on a regular basis is a black widow spider. Most other bugs and critters found in the house will be live-trapped and escorted out. Wasps that nest too close to a...

Trail Access Restrictions - No UTVs = No Horses

There’s two kinds of people in this world. Those who think everyone can be divided into two categories, and those who are smarter than that…. I’ve always hunted in wilderness areas almost without exception, because I hate the noise and commotion that people like the OP make. When I get too...

    Reloading 300 wm

You might want to try posting this in the reloading forum. I reloaded some 300 WM for my son. it was pretty much the same process as reloading for my other rifles. IIRC You need to crimp as part of the process to ensure the bullet doesn’t slide around in the neck under recoil. YMMV...

    Moose Creek, Mt... murder?

That is absolutely awful . Sounds like the victim just had a chance encounter with the guy, and invited him for a friendly beer. Then the guy killed him.. I guess be careful who you invite into your camp.

    Let's hear those PBM Stories!

I don’t know if this count as a PBM since I didn’t actually pull the trigger. About 15 years ago. I had spotted a very nice heavy muley buck on a ridge about 400 yards above the edge of the aspen grove where I was. Nothing but grass and scrub between me and him. 400 yards is longer than I...

Did you forget your rifle in the Mendocino NF?

I used to pack horses into the Ruby Mountains in NV. I didn’t have enough horses to ride and pack, so they carried camp and I walked with a light day pack and a rifle, leading the two horses. About 20 years ago I took my (now ex) girlfriend hunting with me. We had a great time until the walk...
