There's a part of me that felt a little insulted in that is what he assumed I would find attractive. Like I'm not a teenager looking for swag to wear. Especially considering I don't have any pride in their company. I bought their product because it was my only option. I ended up telling him I...
Yeah tried different bullets powder. Tried h1000 and retumbo. 215 Berger and 225 eldm. Tried 87.5 gr -92 gr in .3 grain increments both powders both bullets. Not much better luck besides just around 1 moa for one group. But that's ignoring the 2 3 ft groups that were completely bizarre. Bartlein...
Yeah I would have done a few things different. That being said finding this round was kind of a cherry on top to the build lol. I called bartlein a week and half ago about it. Left a voicemail since they usually don't pick up. I don't doubt they'll take care of it. They've got a good reputation...
I have a 26 nosler which is identical to the 6.5-300. It is a absolute laser but I needed something that'll lob heavy bullets decently quick across pretty nasty canyons. Country we hunt you want something heavy and that'll buck the wind more than a lighter laser. My 26 shoots lights out. 127s @...
I'll try it after work and see if the bolt will close. I'm alittle doubtful that it would have done too much. Maybe the worst would have been damage to the lands or the barrel?

Rem 700. On paper this gun should shoot lights out. Trued/blueprinted action, um premier rings, nf bases, nf scope, bartlein steel barrel, manners stock, gunwerks suppressor. All work minus mounting scope was done by bartlein

Yeah that pretty much where I'm at. That's what I told them. I hate asking for handouts from companies but offering clothing as compensation for bullets?

Yeah probably should. Sell a setup that cost me 5.5k for maybe 4-4.5k, take a loss, and then spend another 6k on a different setup hoping it works out better.

Yeah there's a lot of hindsight here. When we shot it before leaving to hike back in we had some allen wrenchs and thought maybe scope bases came loose so we made sure those were tight. You'd think driving a few miles would be fine. I also knew that I was going to be limited to within 300 or so...
Yeah we did that but the loctite we used didn't hold good and I know that bases on bigger magnums can come loose with shots. Current plan is to shoot groups without suppressor and see if it groups different. If not I'll put my shv on and see if it groups different. I know that shv is flawless...
I ran out of handloads because the gun didn't hold zero traveling to Montana. I've reloading with Peterson brass. This gun has been kinda a nightmare to figure. It is it's own topic. Nx8, bartlein heavy Palma 1-9, manners lrh stock. Gunsmithing done by Bartlein. Over 100 rounds through the gun...
Maybe if someone has a 300 .rum that they want to do an experiment with we could use this round and see what happens [emoji16]

Maybe. If I had a cheap spare 300 rum I'd test it :)
No it isn't worth practicing with. But when you spend big money for a custom rifle and it shoots 2-2 1/2 moa groups and won't hold zero then you gotta start somewhere with eliminating if it's the rifle, suppressor, or scope.
Also partly why...
I'll check it tonight. Maybe the picture quality isn't high enough but the brass is folded in the shoulder and the crack goes the entire way through the neck.

I contacted them and got offered "swag" for it. Not really too interested in swag. I would much rather have the problem replaced with a proper solution not "swag"

My .300 RUM hasn't been shooting very good so I've been working on eliminating what it could be. In the process I decide to switch to factory ammo for a baseline and picked up the only factory ammo I found in store. Seemingly pretty reputable company but still had to pay $122 for a box.
It had...
