I really love the way those aluminum framed packs carry the load. Not to mention I get less sway being able to add straping or rope to the frame and secure it in place tighter.
That said I carry a SG and put the meat in the main bag in a contractor bag.
Very , very few and those are typically hunting with family that live here.
Our general areas have an incredibly inflated number of tags much like CO OTC elk. So we don't loose much to NRs.
There are 0 NR elk tags & our deer population and size isn't great. Hogs and bears are really what we...
Watching the most current voting poling the red grew and the blue decreased. We'll never be a Red state again. But there is absolutely a misinterpretation attached to CA residents and the state itself based off of Media coverages and Politics. Similar can be said of Colorado.
Don't blink.... it flies by.... great advice on this thread. Gear wise, keep an eye out or post in the Classifieds on here. I've gotten a lot of great youth gear for a great price and always re sold or donated it on here as the boys have outgrown it.

It's our best kept secret. If the gun laws & cost of living didn't suck I'd never leave.
It's a road hunters paradise. Groups will radio each other and chase herds. Shoot across roads.... shoot into herds.... wound animals that they don't have tags for... private ranches chasing elk with ATVs to keep them on their land so their hunters can kill them... One morning as we were driving...
When guys discuss NR VS R allocations and such the main response is for those NR to move to that state if they don't like it... then when they do those same people are pissed... careful what you ask for.
I detached / tore my bicep tendon off the bone during ducks season. 2 weeks later I had a gun in my hand... albeit a little slower and calculated in my mount and swing but was able to get it done.
I've recovered from numerous serious injuries. The one thing I learned...Recovery is just as much...
