How so?.... I mean the idea is that OCW with a large enough sample size you'd be able to gather enough data for a good statistical analysis of the performance and be able to extrapolate what the standard deviations would be for group sizings.
Just an update on the troubleshooting...
- Was able to run a dollar bill between the barrel and stock all the way to the recoil lug with out an issue.
- Pulled the barreled action and visually inspected the barrel & stock. Found no sign of contact on either, re-
assembled and torqued to...
I'm guessing it has something to do with harmonics, but since its a browning the barrel swap option is almost out of the question lol... Now the question I have is would an adjustment to the load (powder charge or seating depth) be able to increase its accuracy? if so where would one start...
I did with 2, 5 shot groups. 1st group was .74 and the second was .86 with the same load it had been shooting.
From what I've gathered on the interwebs, predominantly lowering a charge will often improve accuracy and some people have had this issue then reduced the powder charge (but never...
Posted this in a discord chat but still looking for some insight and experienced advice…
Here’s the background, got a Xbolt Speed suppressor ready in 30-06. Developed a load running Lapua brass, pushing 178gr ELD-X with 54.7gr of H-4350. MV avg is 2705, SD 8-9 and ES’s in the high teens to low...
I'd say just go with a 30-06, very versatile cartridge.
As far as bullet selection goes, theres always the proverbial "It Depends". If you're not reloading, then the best bet is to get box of a couple different Factory Ammo loads for hunting and see which one your rifle likes (ie groups) best...
You can run a large bottle with the conversion hose, just be aware that some of the 1lbs tank conversion adapters have a schrader valve in them and that can complicate things if the torch doesn't have a long enough "tang" to depress it.
I was concerned with saving some space on the bench so I went with an AGS v2 and am happy with it. It’s not as hands off as a Burstfire/Annealeze/etc, but it’s fun to tinker with.
Having just started on a Hornady LnL classic here’s the order I’ve upgraded to in the last couple of months:
1) MEC Marksman press
2) Hornady Auto Charge Pro (best upgrade)
3) Little Crow Gunworks v2 trimmer
4) Frankfort Arsenal case prep station
5) AGS annealer
I was trying to balance a...
Thanks Jude, but thats not the Cabela's Special... I agree, it doesn't have a 20" barrel (but a 22") and here's what it actually looks like. Their 'special' Speed SR came w/ a recoil hawg brake.
I bought a new Ovix X-bolt Speed SR in 30-06 this past June at Cabela's, put a trijicon tenmile 3-18x on it and man its a tac driver. Total field weight is just shy of 9 1/4lbs. Used it to harvest a bull during 2nd rifle @ 550yds with a 178gr eld-x (rifle does well with this rounds).
I agree though, it would definitely be interesting to see Sig offer another modern style hunting rifle in magnum calibers. That 7 PRC cartridge has got my attention for a >600yds option.
My kit for 10’s to low 40’s @ 8.5k - 11k ft w/snow:
Top:
1) UA short sleeve compression Top (help prevents hotspots with a pack)
2) Kuiu 125 merino long sleeve base
3) Kuiu Peloton 240 full zip
4) Kuiu ultra down vest
5) Firstlite Kiln 250 beanie/Kuiu air mesh cap...
