    not a 'smith but not seeing how different bottom "metal" would affect accuracy. now it might help with feeding (or hurt i guess depending on the fit). i have a couple of tikka's and just ordered another and have no issues with the factory bottom 'metal' and mags.

    yeah i just dropped the 6.5 PRC fps by 100 (hopefully way overkill for 2") in hornady's ballistic calculator. at 500yds (close to if not at my preset hunting limits), energy dropped from 1644 to 1523 ft-lbs, the drop went from 43 to 47" and 5 mph windage increased from 6 to 7". not losing a...

    choosing a 22" vs a 24" will reduce weight a little as well as tree banging. any idea of the velocity i'll lose.. is the rule something like 25-50 fps/inch or thereabouts. not sure how sensitive the PRC's are to barrel length. thanks!

    Tikka T3 7mm PRC

    today i ordered a tikka long action LEFTY magnum action from jaoutdoors.com. thinking about going 7prc. looks like proof might have carbon prefits out around april. i have two similar rifles in mesa altitude stocks and my go that way for this one. may just go 6.5prc, not sure yet.

    Tikka recoil

    tikka's are generally light and thus more felt recoil. if you are ok with the '06 then yes the creed and 7-08 will kick less. limbsaver recoil bad def helps. a brake really helps also though there isn't a whole lot of meat at the end of their thin barrels.

    thanks. yeah will be dropping the barrelled action in a mesa altitude stock. that config works great with my two others in 6.5 creed and 300wsm. with the factory long magnum magazines (3.370), and the extra space if loaded with 6.5 PRC (2.945), just hoping they feed good.

    2012 f250 6.7 diesel. get 17-18 out and about (no towing). but drops big time to 10-12mpg just pulling a sxs on an open aluminum trailer. frankly pretty surprised (disappointed) about the mpg drop.

    loud noise also induces flinching etc. wear earplugs with muffs over them. virtually no recoil in a .223 of any sort.

    i had a custom ks in 7stw that i loved. one day i was playing around and noticed the barrel wasn't fully free-floated so i sanded down the the stock a little. accuracy went to crap and upon some research (that i should have done first...) sounds like some of the thinner-barrel rifles...
