Might as well go from the hardest 6mm hunt to the easiest: So there I was.... In my backyard.
Was up in a stand on my property yesterday and had this buck come in at about 45 yds in front of me at the same time that a doe was creeping up behind/under me. I could only see his head but as I was...
I know you're specifically asking about bolt guns, but I've had a lot of luck in ARs across several bullets in that general weight range with 29.1gr - 29.3gr of LVR. Specially with the 103gr ELDx in my 18" AR, my load is 29.3gr. Might be worth a try in your bolt gun as well.
I don't have the vortex, but I did have two of the Helos, one took a dump on me twice, once on a 300 WSM and once on a 7 PRC. I replaced it with one of the new Leupold Mark 4HD 2.5-10, and I've only had one outing with it so far, but I'm really liking it, thinking about getting another. Might be...
Staball 6.5 and RL-16 are good for that, but these days Staball is a lot easier and cheaper to get.
Wouldn't recommend the 45 grain load in most brass as it's a bit warm in my latest batch of Starline.
That's exactly what it means, they make it pretty clear in the video. The 69gr, 77gr, 168gr and 175gr are apparently SMK copies while the 105gr and 140gr are Hybrid copies.
Hoping they bring out Mil versions of the 2.5-15, 3-12 and 3-18, FFP in one if the options with lower min magnification than the 4-16 would be nice too.
They have a nice assortment of great MPVO mag range options in that line, 2.5-15, 3-12, 3-18, and the only one they offer in a mil reticle is the 4-16? What a bummer, hard to figure the thought process there.

For sale is a new in box, never mounted Athlon Ares ETR UHD 3-18x50 FFP scope with the APRS6 mil reticle. I have only taken this scope out of the box and installed the battery to look at the illumination (looks very good), it has never been mounted or used.
This scope is nice, but a bit...
I use mostly Black Diamonds, an old Storm that I've had for close to 10 years, a newer Storm 400 and a Spot. I prefer the Storms, the 4 battery configuration seems to last much longer than the 3 battery Spot, the newer Storm I especially like, it's got RGB options, and tap for turbo mode. One of...
I've had this same issue with my 300 WSM Tikka running a Helos BTR 2-12 in medium Sportsmatch rings. I wound up having to go to high Sportsmatch rings to solve the problem, although I may just go to another scope with a smaller windage knob as the scope is now higher than I'd like. Seems to be...
Kind of a steel nerd here, so carrying a Havalon on a hunt would kind of feel like hunting with a Rem 783.... I'm sure it works but....
In the past I've carried two knives, an older Mel Pardue Benchmade design in D2, and a custom in O1. More recently I've accumulated a bunch of Spyderco ~3.5"...
Realizing that my range handwriting is somewhat illegible, the numbers on the first, green paper are for the 130gr Sierra TGK, and the 143gr ELDx. The second, white paper has 130gr TGKs and 140gr Gold Dots. I was also looking at the velocity difference between Starline and Peterson brass, so...
I have an 18" Sig Cross that I mostly shoot Staball 6.5 and RL16 in, here are some of my Chrono notes from the range. The 6.5 holds up pretty well with shorter barrels (actually the .30-06 does too, the one I was chronoing the same day has an 18.5" barrel.
