Awesome, man! I have been trying so hard to find a mountain lion with the little hunting time I have throughout the year, and this is adding some fuel to my fire.
I have 100 Peterson 22 Creedmoor small rifle primer brass and am looking for the same in large rifle primer brass.
Brass is 1x fired with moderate Superformance loads. I couldn’t get good ignition with SRP and the slower powders.
I’m willing to kick in some cash if your brass is new.
If it does well I could see Berry's coming out with an inexpensive plated bullet like they have for the .300 Blk. The 300 Blk is all about cheap fun for me and the readily available brass and bullet diameter help out a lot there. Maybe the 338 ARC will get there too.
I've got probably 150 rounds through the rifle so not a ton of experience to go off of. The rifle largely went on the backburner after I got a .17-5.56 barrel from KAK Industry--I haven't shot it since February. Some notes:
Rifle is shooting Barnes 62gr Varmint Grenades for predator calling...
I celebrate the arrival of every new AR15-length cartridge for two reasons:
- It helps normalize and sell more ARs
- It keeps my hopes alive that a manufacturer will bring a truly excellent micro bolt action to market
Along the same lines, a sign put up for against a proposition will cause me to dig deeper into who put it up and why they are supporting it, which may color my view.
Good choice.
The non-slip fabric on bottom of the Triple S does a good job at not picking up the fine cactus hairs and thorns that other materials (or your pants) will.
I'm operating under the assumption that Hornady's max load is at or near 62k PSI. +10% bullet weight and another ~10% more charge is really going to move those numbers.
Please report back on brass life after you've got a few loads in them. Hornady shows a max load of 37.7gr H4350 for their 80gr bullets, so your load seems pretty spicy.
:ROFLMAO: I'm alright being a FAH in this case. I don't fault you in this, I personally thought RS staff would have reviewed and removed such a mention prior to publishing.
Good luck to you as well, maybe our paths will cross out in the desert!
Nice writeup.
On the other hand, since I’ve still gotta draw a javelina tag and the odds are decent for now, I’m unamused by a FNG going a step beyond naming a unit and naming a drainage.
