I have few flavors, 7mm mag, .300 RUM and .270.
I end up hunting 90% with my .270. With todays great bullet selections, and it versatility as flat shooter, its hard to beat for my needs.

To me its a tool, its a tool I can use to defend, signal or get food if needed. Its the same mindset as why I wear a seatbelt , carry survival gear or always have a sharp knife.
Theirs no emotion in it, macho, fear etc. It just a tool for me.
Here in Montana during archery, I carry my S&W .40 loaded with 200 grain Underwood hard cast flat nose and my bear spray. Threats come in both two legs and four.
^^^^ Above post hit it. Weyerhaeuser and now Southern Pine Plantations own alot of good areas for hunting. Being a private owed company, gates can close or open at anytime, logging, etc.
