No I don’t really know of anything else I could have done. Unfortunately if I’m lucky I seem to get one encounter like that per season. Wondering if I need to do something differently and hoping that wasn’t my only shot.
I thought it may have been another Hunter but I am 99% sure it was not...
Hiked up to some fresh sign before first light. Bugled at 7 and got a return a couple hundred yards away. Talked back and forth until he got to somewhere around 100 over 20-30 minutes. After he hung up there he went back and presumably bedded down at 730/745. He bugled and talked back and forth...
My hunting buddy is heading back to work after the weekend. Looking for someone that wants to come archery hunt. I have a big wall tent set up. Exploring new areas so don’t expect me to have any secret spots with elk. Shoot me a pm if you’re interested.
Yeah sometimes on more mellow rest days. The high mountain lakes seem to always be full of tiny trout that will smash almost any dry fly. Never seem to catch any big ones though.
Did the last two days backpacking out there in the jungle gym of death. Didn’t understand why there were no other hunters until we realized how thick the shit we were in is. If you’re archery hunting I will be out solo for the rest of the season when my buddy goes back to work next week...
What’s happening with me is the toe box and heel are too big when I move up in size anymore to allow the rest of my foot to not go numb.
I actually prefer a little bit of heel slip, but something feels off. I can’t even pinpoint where it’s happening other than not the heels or toe.
Do you intentionally get them wet right off the bat to help break in and form?
If I return these I’m thinking about getting the mountain guide. Are there any cons to them?
Guess I better return them and figure out what the deal is.
I’ve been using some cheap Irish setters with 400 G insulation trapping in 0° weather and they are a little cold. Should I expect these to be about the same, or should they be warmer than the cheaper ones?
Picked up the mountain extreme 400gs at Cabelas. Normally wear a 10.5-11 shoe. The 11's made my feet tingle a bit and fall asleep. Went up to 11.5's and it mostly went away but it's still there a bit. Can't go any bigger or my heel really slips.
Do these things loosen up a bit after a break in...
Yeah probably. For nearly two years I ate clean "one ingredient" carbs. Brown rice, oats, etc. Night and day difference without them. Apparently dairy too. I had a small glass of milk and thought I was going to die.
How about that! Finally something real. It may only be a raccoon and not a lion but I am happy to see I’m at least on the right track with her!
Setting up a drive to see Pathfinder and maybe get a dog or two from him.
Thanks for the reply. I realize I am throwing crap at the wall to see what sticks. I feel like I met a stalemate since I can’t find anyone to show me, and just keep repeating the same thing.
What are you asking for the dog? I don’t mind failing at all. I just want to make sure I maximize my...
Never in my life have I struggled so hard to find a damn raccoon. I’ve been out the last three nights, set my traps all around with no luck, called all the nuisance trappers in the area… no luck. I’m in the truck driving an hour away just to go find a spot that might have a stinky raccoon now...
Your advice is the best approach for sure. But I can't find one. I joined the association and ask everyone I find out runs dogs that will listen to me. The association seems to have only one event per year which wont be until next spring. I don't know how else to find someone unless one of you...
