I’m going to try and make this dude a deal. I will take over skinning his damn animals and work for free if he works on my rug while I handle his inability to manage his workload.
Watch for rhabdo. I had this happen even eating 3500 cal a day. For several weeks I smelled ammonia seeping out of my skin with every workout. Ended up in the ER.
Well it’s one year now, I called them again and they said they don’t even see when they can start working on it because hunting season is here and all the new skidding shuts them down.
To make it worse, I called some other shops to get an idea about taking it to them. One guy immediately knew...
I’ve got a month of riding to figure that out along with a vet check. I like him
I was just gonna spray paint him according to the current season and tape my elk decoy to him.
Well I own a horse now. Appaloosa draft horse cross. 12 years old. Super mellow dude. Accidentally poked him in the eye trying to pet him and he didn’t seem to mind. Doing my first lesson Friday.
They usually only run through every 2 to 3 weeks but I guess it’s not worth a chance. With my luck I’ll be running them at the one time they come through.
Pretty new to hound hunting but preparing to take my three dogs out to weeks when it opens back up. Area I’m hunting with hounds I also hunter/trap wolves because there is a large pack that runs here.
I try to keep up with them but obviously when they get on a scent they can outrun me by a...
By the time they open the season it’s too packed with snow for me to safely go out alone. Going to scout more this year at lower elevations.
Not sure if they push down with the weather to the low lands or stay up in the mountains in 10’ of snow?
Thanks for all the advice. I’m going to check out what’s even available and see if some thing a little bit better suited clicks with me.
I like that Appaloosas apparently originated at the Nez Perce tribe near me.
Only real reason I wanted a Percheron was because of how beautiful they are...
For sure haven’t made up my mind. I realize the Percherons I am falling in love with are probably $50,000 show horses. There’s a good chance I still may end up on a quarter horse or Appaloosa etc.
I said I don’t have any experience with horses, but I am aware of what goes into it. I dated...
Definitely wouldn’t pass up a mixed breed. When I mentioned above being used to log heavy timber in the snowy mountains is apparently mixed with Morgan but still mostly huge Percheron.
Thanks for the advice. I have been considering this for quite a while so I’ve done plenty of research on what the cost is going to be. For the last few months I’ve actually been looking at buying another house and property just for this. Decided boarding was better. Budget is 10k for the horse...
That’s what sounds good to me. Sorry I’m not understanding why the speed thing comes into play. Would a Percheron not be able to keep a brisk pace? or sustain one that long?
Glad to hear about their capabilities and snow. That saves me from having to buy a snowmobile again.
I did read that...
